Do you have the Ch5 ratings with +1, I know that CBB got 1.99m, but things like The Expendables and the others shows on Ch5, as you have included +1 for Channel 4 and ITV.

Thing is, with 2-3m becoming an acceptable norm for many primetime ITV offerings, pitiful top 30 entries like 1.73m no longer merit a bat of an eyelid. Even within the lifetime of this thread, I think I littered a few eek faces around when 3m proved enough to get in the ITV1 top 30.

Now, it would be pop the champagne corks time...


Poor old BBC. What a crap old summer. A piffling 7 out of the top 10 shows. The two top rated dramas are on BBC1, the dark looking new Sunday night drama consolidated ahead of Vera which had an hour head start, BBC2 has a factual show at 5 in the all-channels chart, Casualty consolidating above the 5m mark, a mid-evening cookery show making the top 10. EastEnders comfortably clear of Emmerdale.

ITV Media has made a big error. Ignore the multichannel top 10 that they've published, it is completely wrong. It looks like it might be the top 10 for last Sunday.

For starters the football on Sky Sports would have done a lot better than 888k for Liverpool v United and Arsenal v Spurs.

Bruce will regard Tony Jacklin as the biggest star in the universe so will believe this years line up to be huge just because of him.

Overall then a very solid weekend for The X Factor as it heads into its 10th series (9.2m & 9.9m inc +1). I don' think they could have asked for much more and both episodes are up y-o-y too, something at the end of the 2012 run which seemed almost impossible. I think ITV will be happy with that. The question now is, will all these viewers stay around until Christmas?

I'm not trying to put a spin on anything, but there was hardly anything overly thrilling to watch on BBC1 to compete with it. The BBC should have had Debbie Does Downton Live for three weeks while SCD starts! Something for the blokes at least! Instead they just assumed we'd all watch their pot of paint changing colour.

Its the same for 90% of tv. Doesn't matter whether the show is brilliant or rubbish, too many people just don't have the patience to stick with something.
Its sad, maybe if there were less tv channels it would mean higher concentrations of viewers and the chance for shows to grow.

To be expected to a certain extent. 1.4m is still excellent business for C5 at 10pm. And we don't know how it rated officially or how the repeats on 5USA performed yet. All about where it settles down at of course but the premiere performance is certainly very notable and bodes well for upcoming US acquisitions as well.

It's interesting in America this trend towards shorter series. Might have something to do with it. 13 episode runs far less of a commitment than 22-24.

As for the Corrie rating last night (exc/inc +1): 6.65m / 7.13m - that's a fairly decent enough performance considering its out of it normal slot.

Last year, Corrie was also aired on the same Sunday night and averaged 5.87m / 6.26m - so its actually UP y-o-y.

The Beeb doesn't have anything to match X Factor so its just damage limitation. As it was the new ideas on Saturday had already failed to a large degree and the usual output was never going to sprout millions of new viewers for this week.

Therefore its solely a question of how strong the XF brand is in bringing extra viewers back to ITV. And we now know XF still good at getting great peaks but that its a solid but unspectacular return based on its own standards. Cant see all that many viewers deserting it now, but its whether its got the nations appetite for it back to build-which clearly it had lost last year.
