A&E cancels The Glades after 4 seasons: http://www.c21media.net/archives/125014
It's been moderately successful for UKTV's Alibi over here, with episodes bringing in around 200,000 viewers. But some way behind the channel's most successful imports Castle and Body of Proof. Apparently it ended with a bit of a cliffhanger. Not a great advert for investing your time in long running American dramas. |

I'm in such a good mood I'm not even bothered to see your name pop up.
![]() To be expected to a certain extent. 1.4m is still excellent business for C5 at 10pm. And we don't know how it rated officially or how the repeats on 5USA performed yet. All about where it settles down at of course but the premiere performance is certainly very notable and bodes well for upcoming US acquisitions as well. I predict it will be steady - ish for the next 2 weeks, and dip below 1 million when it loses its CBB lead in. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it loses more viewers tonight even. Yeah It bodes well for Betrayal. That is such a hot property its bound to preform brilliantly *sarc* |

I don't think its been mentioned but Channel 4 have Officially got the terrestrial rights to Marvels The Avengers
![]() No doubt that came along with Agents of SHIELD. Also some more US show updates: Broklynn Nine Nine looks likely to be going to channel 4, for an e4 slot. Sleepy Hollow which had interest from Channel 4 and Channel 5 is looking likely for Watch. Killer Woman is looking to go to TCM. While Almost Human, the latest from JJ Abrams looks to be going to Sky One instead of Channel 5. There is a bidding war between ITV and Channel 4 for the rights to The Crazy Ones, staring Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar Graceland gone to Universal and Previously reported: Mom gone to ITV2 The 100 and Tomorrow People gone to e4 Hostages and Agents of SHIELD to Channel 4 Betrayal to Channel 5 Suburgatory Season 3 going to e4 |

Fantastic ratings for Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow, pulling in 5-6million up against two of itv's few big shows. What remains dropped heavily as I predicted last week, it's too dark, complex, gritty to appeal to the oap audience who stuck with the easier-to-follow Vera on itv. The XFactor is actually slightly down from the most comparable Sunday night auditions show of last series, which averaged 9.3million exc +1. Obviously it's automatically going to rate better than last year's equivalent episode which was on a saturday which gets lower ratings - we all could've predicted that weeks ago - but for a sunday episode last series, that audition show [not up against event programming like paralumpics] did get a little more last year (exc +1).

Channel viewing share graph shows a very strong performance for Other channels in recent weeks.
Prior to a few weeks ago, Other channels had only ever had a share of 49.0% (or higher) on 3 occasions - once in Aug 2011, once in July 2012 and once in Aug 2012. Then, 10 weeks ago, Other channels had a share of 49.0% (or higher) for the 4th time. Now, Other channels have had a share of 49.0% (or higher) every single week for the last 7 weeks in a row. http://www.barb.co.uk/viewing/trend-...ing-share?_s=4 |

Code:
Channel Last Year This Year Sky1 9.93m (0.9%) 9.36m (0.9%) Sky2 3.62m (0.3%) 3.22m (0.2%) Atlantic 3.07m (0.2%) 2.64m (0.2%) Living 5.68m (0.4%) 5.48m (0.5%) SptsNws 6.27m (0.7%) 5.88m (0.7%) |

How do you think Doc Martin will fare tonight?
and I think DS' ratings articles have gone to pot lately - I'm probably the only one who thinks that. |

Excellent for The X Factor. A decent bit higher than I expected, and so close to 10m! This series has got off to a really promising start, hopefully it can keep it up. Fun fact: last night's average was higher than every single episode last year except the Sunday final. The closest any other episodes last year came to it was 9.84m for the Sunday judges houses show. BBC1 held up really well between 7-9pm but What Remains was disappointing at 9pm. Solid for Vera, but piss poor for A Touch of Cloth. Reasonable for Dragons Den against The X Factor. I find it astonishing just how badly BBC2 has treated this show in the last few years. Quote:

I think it wil rate worse than 2011 opening episode which got 8.4million. The reason being that in 2011 it launched towards the end of September when the weather was worse, more people watching tv then, as well as the fact that it had been trailed during XFactor and other high rating programs like Downton abbey for a number of weeks. This time round Doc martin is launching in early September with the weather quite nice today and more importantly its trails hasn't been exposed to as many viewers over the last two weeks because neither XF or Downton have been on.
I think it could get anything between 8-9 million which is extremely good. But of course, overnights are increasingly irrelevant don't forget. |

Fun fact: last night's average was higher than every single episode last year except the Sunday final. The closest any other episodes last year came to it was 9.78m for the Sunday judges houses show. I think next weekends figures will rise by a fair amount, with people back at school/work etc. |

Doc Martin may not get 8m but 7 million would still be good for it, as time shift will help push it a lot higher.

So word of mouth from the positive response of Saturday nights show has obviously helped. This weekends ratings will be very interesting, but its steps in the right direction so far. |

The overnights for that episode were originally reported wrong and later adjusted as follows (exc/inc +1): 9.8m / 10.2m.

Didn't the Sunday boot camp show get 9.84m? Though, the overnights were amended after a week, but its up on that nevertheless.

Actually Score that's wrong. There was two episodes higher last year. The Final as you say but also Boot Camp (2). The overnights for that episode were originally reported wrong and later adjusted as follows (exc/inc +1): 9.8m / 10.2m.

It'd be interesting to know where the growth is occurring though. Could most of it be coming from the FTA broadcasters multichannels anyway?
The point really is that it just shows increasing willingness to look away from the main 5 channels - wherever else that may be towards. NB. One specific is Sky Sports 2 (Ashes) - 1.3% vs 0.5% for SS2 last year though I'm sure there will be many other notable variations. |

I don't know just how true that bootcamp rating is though. The amendments for that whole week were quite bizarre. Some shows the new ratings made more sense for like Downton Abbey, whereas others like The X Factor and Red or Black came out with numbers that were way off trend. Those XF numbers were not in line with the surrounding weeks, and the new ratings also suggested that Red or Black's 7.25pm episode got 4.3m when all the others were around c3.5m. That would be a bizarre surge. Other shows like The Jonathan Ross Show and Piers Morgan's Life Stories got ratings that were off trend yet didn't get adjusted, so the ratings for that whole week are dodgy and I'm not sure what numbers to believe (if any of them).

bbc's original drama trailer is getting a lot of attention due to the lack of female actors in it. However, have heard that its a first in a series of autumn trailers- the second one will feature dramas like the paradise, last tango in halifax, death comes to pemberly, 7:39 etc (i.e the more female skewing, gentle, warmer dramas) and the third trailer is for bbc2. Not sure what to make of all of this.
Also, just wanted to ask again if anyone had the breakdown for last night's x factor????? |
