I have 10.2m for the Sunday bootcamp episode. But they must be right - look at the officials. Or are you saying these must be wrong as well?

I remember when I had ratings access that the episode rounded to 10.3m with +1 (the +1 audience was adjusted slightly too). Yeah I still don't buy the officials either to be honest, for all shows that were affected, not just XF. Some of them just look wrong, and I just wrote off that week completely.

Hmmm. I had someone with access check that episode for me too and they told me the +1 rating was correct and no adjustment was required.

The figures I have for that episode are:

Sun 23/9 ITV1: 9.84m (36.9%) **adjusted**
Sun 23/9 ITV1+1: 402k (1.5%) **no adjustment**
TOTAL: 10.24m

Either way sometimes shows do get small surges. Looking over previous XF series this sort of thing has happened before.

I loved his shows when I was young. I remember stumbling across his Madhouse on ITV in 1983 or 1984, and I watched all his subsequent BBC shows, even the summer repeats. I feel a bit sorry for him, because the scripts seemed to get a little bit weaker with every passing year.

What annoys me is how so many LE shows and quizzes are dragged out beyond 30 minutes these days, when they don't need to be. Obviously you need longer running times for large scale shows such as Strictly and Factor, but not for things like Puppet Game Show and Britain's Brightest. And Through the Keyhole gains nothing from an extra 15 minutes and an extra house.

I know it's done to get value for money, but it must drive lots of viewers away.

Well I don't think ITV could have asked for much more this weekend. The Sunday episodes appear to be working well, that's a far better rating than the second episode last year (and indeed one of the shows highest ever for a second auditions show). But it's not just the change of night as that's up on all Sunday auditions last year (and all episodes bar the final and maybe one bootcamp). Nicely higher than Saturday as well (which had the benefit of being the launch episode).

Even going back to 2011 when the show was at its peak, the first Sunday auditions show had 10.7m. So this is down 7.7% from that which, when you consider all that has happened since, is a very positive result.


Such a shame when ratings delays allow people to get their hopes up...


I'm not sure viewer fatigue is really an issue with the format as a whole... I mean, this is series 10 and 11.2m tuned in last night. Up on last year.

I'd expect the Doc to get about 7.8m on itv and about 0.5 m of the +1 tonight so ill predict 8.3m in total.

Thanks for that round up - despite the pilot season not looking too inspiring it does seem this year the UK channels are looking for a hit.

New Strictly lineup is definitely the worst I've seen from it in years. I thought Vanessa Feltz was bad but some of those others are proper D or Z listers. Maybe they overspent on the cast last year so had to save money this time, I dont know, but this is an uninspiring lineup in terms of name value.

I think Doc Martin will still do really well tonight. All the schools were either back last week, today or tomorrow and its dark already and with an 8m+ Corrie lead-in, it should do very well. May even top the night.

It will either be equal to Corrie or above. I think 8.5million inc+1 is possible. Its a hugely popular drama that's only on every two years. But even a lower overnight, it will make up in time-shift.

I think the 2011 run was the most watched series ever?!

"Doc Martin" Bland; middle class rubbish on dark autumn Mondays its bound to go down well. The Daily Mail viewers will love it and Downton. With a "Coronation Street" leg up it will probably be the best of the night at around 8.- 9 million.

Obviously that's your opinion, but not many dramas run for nearly a decade with consistently high viewership.

I think The Michael J Fox show will be the smartest buy.
Channel 4's acquisitions of Agents of Shield & Hostages are both seem excellent as well.

Sky1's original programming's ratings got criticised by some on here. Consolidated figures show some improvements: Trollied-750K ,(up from 475k) Chickens-650k (up from 300k), Touch of cloth-550k (up from 200K)

2011 was the most watched series ever. It stayed above 8m in the overnights and consistently topped 10m in the officials.

The overnights for the first two were 9.4m and 8.3m respectively.

Completely disagree, given the final last year may have included Louis Smith and Kimberley Walsh, but it also featured Dani Harmer and I'm pretty sure she wasn't an A lister when the show began. As mentioned, Kara Tointon was hardly that big a deal when she won it, and Victoria Pendleton was a big name and didn't do very much at all. Nicky Byrne was hardly that sensational either.

I like the line-up, Natalie Gumede fills the Kara Tointon role as mentioned, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, I would say, is about as good as Kimberely Walsh, the general public know her and like her. Abbey Clancey and Rachel Riley are already all over the papers. Susanna Reid means Breakfast will talk about it all the time. And though the men aren't as exciting I reckon Mark Benton and Dave Myers will be really popular, they've got great personalities and people will like them.

And Brucie is still there, and Brucie is great.

Depends if his nurse wakes him up from his afternoon nap in time and gives him his medication.

16-34 numbers for Saturday's entertainment launches, with their 16-34 % skews in brackets (all including +1 and tapechecked):

Stepping Out - 0.49m (13%)
The X Factor - 2.39m (26%)
Through The Keyhole - 1.26m (23%)

Stepping Out skewed old, as you'd expect I guess, but that is just not enough for a big live show. X Factor was strong as ever in the demo whilst Through The Keyhole skewed nice and young too, again as you'd expect I guess.

Probably not a similar thing, but last year during Britain's Got Talent, they allowed people to vote for the acts via the mobile app. That was scrapped after the first live show though because of technical difficulties.
