I'm really looking forward to that. The trailer looks great, and it's set in my former neck of the woods.

Having said that previewing first will hurt a programmes official TV rating as online previews aren't included. What is the point for now?”
I did a rough back-of-the-envelope calculation with regard to ITV's paid-for preview. The
cost of a 30-second advert in September 2010 was £19.45 per thousand ABC1 Adult viewers, which is 1.945p for each viewer in that demo. For this illustration I've assumed that this figure haven't changed.
If an Adult ABC1 viewer bought a preview instead, it is reasonable to assume they wouldn't then watch the broadcast version when it went out. Therefore they would not watch the adverts during and around the programme. Assuming three breaks of 3m30s each, plus another advert at either end, ITV would miss out on about 17.5p of advertising revenue per ABC1 Adult viewer. Even accounting for the knock-on effect of a smaller lead-in for the following programme, and missed trails for other shows, they would clearly make a net benefit from selling an episode of
Whitechapel for
£1.29 (although whether they have to pay some of that over to rights-holders, I don't know).

1.25m (7.9%) + 109k on +1 = 1.36m (8.6%).
