The start of the CBB final?? It ended tonight

It didn't start tonight, it starts in two weeks unless you mean there is ANOTHER series of Big Brother for the next two weeks!

3million to 5million does sound incredibly ambitious for SHIELD on a Friday at 8pm. In the overnights at least.

It could have maybe got that in a more suitable slot. But in an hour where C4 rarely top a million and against both EastEnders and Coronation Street, I don't see it. Even for a hyped up show like this.

I think we'll see how it premieres in America first.. If it is HUGE...which I think it will be (it will get more the 15 million for the premiere in my opinion) then it will be a bit of a clue

The final started at 8.30pm so SHIELD was against the first part of it. Though Channel 5 have split it up in the schedules so 8.30-9 was 'The Final Countdown'.

There's a story going around (which I cannot confirm) that when Sky News did their paper review at 10.30pm, the Daily Star named Charlotte as CBB winner (well before the official announcement at 11.05pm).

I wondered why Dancc hadn't placed it in the Ratings Prediction Game schedule.

The final show is pre-recorded; Charlotte would have been named winner soon after 10pm so the Daily Star could have done a quick turnaround on their front page.

The 11pm show wasn't live. I don't think it's possible due to the site's proximity to a residential area for them to finish the live show that late.

They would have recorded it at about 9:40pm as there's roughly a 20 minute delay usually anyway.

Cool, thanks Fudd (didn't know the last bit wasn't live, I knew that phone lines closed at 10pm, thought it might be odd to have the CBB crowd standing around for an hour during Celeb Super Spa).

They closed the lines pretty close to 10pm IIRC; they couldn't film the result until they had done that.

They don't have a 20 minute delay, when the evictions are live they are completely live.

I think you're right; there is delay of some kind for the live shows.

^ There's no delay anymore. I went to an eviction this year (no really) and it ran exactly to time.

With wdytya and new tricks almost finished, are we getting an October push for bbc one?? On a comedy subject, firstly is citizen khan ready for a prime time slot, I'm not so sure, plus the Peter Kay sitcom is that coming this autumn, how about not going out, I'm sure there was talks of 6 pilots to be screened together, and I'm sure there was another big one, but I can't remember

Interesting, thanks. That sounds a bit risky if anything happens which they'd like to cut out.

It would get as bad as Channel 4 in the last years they had the rights. BB is a niche show now, so keep it that way. I don't see other smallish rating reality shows like NTM or Peter Andre My Life extending their run, so keep BB the same. Yet it does seem to be a job creation exercise for the Daily Star and should they sell Channel 5, it would be classed as past it, same as their journalists on both newspapers have to promote largely unwatched toot like Home ands Away and Neighbours as if they're massive shows.

Two decent sounding programmes, any film premieres that week?

The Bible is going air at Christmas which I'm guessing will be stripped across the schedule.

This possible 19:00 start may just be for the first Saturday show proper, which is the second of a two-parter starting on the Friday of course. Last year the equivalent episode aired on the same night as the first X Factor live show, which was 2 hours 23 minutes long. To have Strictly start at 19:00 on that night would have forced a clash with X Factor unless the latter was to finish at a quarter to eleven. As it was, Strictly aired from 18:30 to 19:50 and then there was a needless 10-minute gap before X Factor ran from 20:00 to about 22:25.

On the 28th, it will be different due to X Factor running two weeks behind this year, relative to Strictly.* Bootcamp Saturday was 90 minutes last year, not 60 as I incorrectly stated earlier. If it's the same on the 28th (and Digiguide does say 90 minutes) then X Factor can avoid the clash by airing at 20:25 and still finish before 22:00. Or just take the clash and finish nice and early at 21:30, hoping to make up most of the damage with +1.

* By the calendar, Strictly started a week earlier than last year and X Factor started two weeks later than last year, which would have made a three-week relative difference as of the first Strictly live show, had X Factor not compressed five weeks of auditions into four. In doing so, X Factor will have caught up by a week and will be two weeks behind Strictly by the 28th: thus it will be first live Saturday v Bootcamp rather than first live Saturday v first live Saturday. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Do you not get tired of making the same post over and over again but with slightly different wording each time? I'm exasperated just reading them! And once again you're being overly dismissive here. For all that BB and CBB have declined with age and moving to a channel with lower reach, it's still not remotely credible to compare with shows like Next Top Model that get substantially fewer viewers and are not on the same level at all.

I don't agree with doing any more weeks than they are already but as that hasn't been confirmed to this point, just that they want to do more live shows, it's kind of a rant for the sake of a rant. Until we hear more details it's just speculation and yet another excuse for some to have a pop.

If it turns out they are in fact looking to do more BB than they are at the moment, then first and foremost it proves comprehensively how wrong some people are (*cough*) to pick the ratings apart all the while because either they think it's still 2005 or their memory of the show's trajectory over the past 8 years has gone, and they can't get their heads around this idea that what constitutes a hit show for C5 is not the same as what constitutes a hit show for BBC1, ITV or even C4.

That being said, I wouldn't be in favour of it as it means the show only has a couple of years left as opposed to 4 or 5. Every programme has a shelf life but if you do too much of it too soon that time will come sooner rather than later and it's the same for everything on TV. As C5 probably won't have something to replace it that soon, they could have a crisis worse than C4 when it eventually ends. So I think a better strategy would have been to look after it more and think about the long term.

'A spokesperson from Celebrity Big Brother said: 'While the first part of the live final was recorded live, the second half was pre-recorded because of the weather and because of programme scheduling.'

The X Factor could just move later for the Boot Camp episodes but there will still be issues for Judges Houses/the live shows in that scenario as Strictly will get longer from week two as all the celebrities perform on the same night.
