I think it did, no doubt someone will know on here.

Though XF will no doubt have been repeated enough times to make it the winner by some peoples calculations

EDIT:
Looking at the BARB top ten XF for 2012 was not in it, and SCD was 9th with 13.35 million behind all the Olympics and Football. I cant find our thread recorded top 20 but it was a win for SCD for non event tv. Its like a list from yesteryear actually-some huge figures.

These quotes may be made up, but it doesn't change the fact that ITV did arrive at this bonkers scheduling.

How anyone could think that clashing a dancing show (whatever the quality, we can argue about that) with Strictly, or even airing in any of the same weeks as Strictly, was a good idea, I cannot fathom.

Last year, Fool Britannia aired at 18:55 or a little earlier, with Red or Black in between that and X Factor. After Red or Black ended, Take Me Out filled that slot between Fool and Factor.”

I don't think they would do Fool Britannia before X Factor.

ITV are meant to be showing an 8-episode run of celebrity specials of The Chase soon which has already been filmed. If Surprise Surprise is occupying the 7pm Sunday night slot lead-in for X Factor, then I would perhaps suggest that The Chase Celebrity Special series could maybe act as the Saturday night lead-in for the X Factor live shows.

I think the Saturday night schedule for ITV for October 12 (night of the first live X Factor show) might work as follows:

18:00 You've Been Framed!
18:30 Fool Britannia
19:00 The Chase Celebrity Specials
20:00 The X Factor (first show last year was just over 2 hours long, will probably be same length again)
22:15 The Jonathan Ross Show (also meant to be returning soon)

That's just my presumption, feel free to disagree.

Celebrity Chase was averaging 4million viewers last year in an easy Sunday 7pm slot. Take off 1-1.5million viewers due to facing Strictly come dancing, it wont pose any kind of threat to SCD with its probable ratings of c3million. The only kind of show which could threaten SCD even slightly are gameshows which normally get over 5million for itv when facing mediocre competition. Itv dont have any of these kind of shows so SCD will be fine this autumn.

SCD definitely beat it and handsomely

Here is the 'official' BARB top 10 of 2012 (including multiple entries of the same strand, e.g. Olympic sporting events, soap episodes - however there was none of the latter in the chart), posted by cylon6:

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...postcount=5502

Only counting unique programmes (only one Euro 2012 match per channel, but both Olympic ceremonies), here was the top 80, posted by Andy Parish:

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...postcount=4650

X Factor 17th in the table, ten places and 1.82m behind Strictly. Even adding +1 wouldn't make much difference as that added less than 183k, not even enough to beat The Voice, let alone Strictly.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Thank you for that Neil. What I find interesting is that SCD even beat BGT last year. Officially then, (until it's beaten), SCD is the UK's number entertainment show. How much did BGT get for its final this year? Perhaps comparing SCD with BGT might be more accurate then.

Firstly The Chase was averaging higher than 4million, most episodes were about 4.5million. Pointless is getting sub 4million against YBF. Secondly Catchphrase as averaging over 5million even nearer 6million at one point. However agree that Strictly is unlikely to be dented, although its not impossible. Some viewers taken away from Strictly average and it will be down yoy, but PR.

No. The format already existed, courtesy of someone other than the BBC.

Now any chance of a sensible discussion?

That would be a very reasonable assumption to make.

Trouble is though mate, that currently regular Pointless is beating regular Chase. There's nothing to suggest that this would change once Celebrity versions begin.

Personally, they should ditch You've Been Framed altogether - replace it with Catchphrase. The X Factor shouldn't run for longer than 2 hours - it was extremely padded out last year.

The Chase was doing fine on Sundays - if anything, it should do just as well on Saturdays. It's a light hearted quiz and has its funny moments - TV Burp is a family comedy show which has done very well in the pre-XF slot. It should be nailed on for 4m at best.

No probs. Strictly ran The X Factor close in 2011, just 70k behind excluding +1.

I have received an email from SRO Audience Services. They have invited me to apply for tickets to see Series 2 of Catchphrase being recorded: IN JANUARY.

Even if the Chase Celebs averaged 4.5million last year, take away the 1-1.5million which itv shows get dented by when against SCD, it'll be down to about 3million. It's not going to pose any kind of threat to SCD with ratings of about 3million, thats going to be similar or worse than how Take me out rated last year. Catchphrase averaged 4.5million most episodes, only one episode was around 5.5m when it followed the FA Cup. Even Catchphrase will be down to about 3/3.5million against SCD and neither program will cause any problems for SCD. The only show Itv has which realistically could be scheduled before XF and could cause some damage to SCD is Saturday Night Takeaway. But Itv wont be able to schedule that due to Ant and Decs busy schedules so whatever Itv do air against SCD will most likely get crushed easily.

Yes I don't get the impression celeb versions of Chase are likely to be anything special.

Harry Hill did dent SCD a bit at his peak with Burp I seem to recall.

DS has updated.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s103/...5m-on-itv.html

8.65m (40%) / 9.06m (41.9%). Retaining the same share as two weeks ago.

Through the Keyhole: 4.23m (20.4%) / 4.54m (21.9%) - it's definitely found it's level now, still respectable.

Stepping Out: 3.12m (17.5%) / 3.27m (18.3%) - up on last week by almost a million.

I Love My Country got its best ever rating yesterday, beating Stepping Out head to head.

In 2012 Strictly Come Dancing beat The X Factor in the end of year ratings chart for the first time since 2006.

I Love My Country: 3.23m (17.4%)
Break the Safe: 3.12m (14.6%)
Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow: 2.68m (13.6%)
Match of the Day: 3.65m (27.6%)

That's I Love My Country's best figure yet. Maybe the week off had something to do with that?

Sad figures all round though considering the cool weather.

Through The Keyhole has stabilised at a pretty good level and is doing better than Jonathan Ross in that slot. Stepping Out not awful but nowhere near enough. They'd have been hoping for 4m+. It'll get murdered again by Strictly for the finale in two weeks. I Love My Country looks a bit better. Still doubt they'll give it another run but there's a small chance I guess.

Well that's wrong as they're filming this week. Indeed, they're recording some this afternoon. Perhaps they're talking about a third series.

Who'd have thought the BBC News would squeeze into the top 10?
