Shame both soaps looking pretty low there.

Those ratings for bbc2/itv/c4 at 9pm yesterday are dire, particularly one of them.

Vicious has somehow got renewed. The Job lot is back but demoted to Itv2. Plebs is returning too. No word about Great night out...

So ITV are giving both shows another chance. Nice to hear (about Vicious in particular).

Sitcoms need time to find their feet and thats best done for the bigger channels when they aren't in a prominent slot. Benidorm wasn't an overnight success, and it started life as a half hour show at 10pm. It's good to see ITV giving them another chance rather than looking at the raw figures.

Great. Up over 100k on last summer. Don't why people are trying, and failing miserably to spin it as bad because it didn't perform as well as the winter edition, no one expected it to, for one the winter edition airs in January, when viewing figures across the board are notably higher, for two the most recent winter edition people are comparing it to, got C5's best ever figures for the show to date. It beat last summer's CBB10 launch which is the only series, ratings wise, it's comparable to, and beat all but BBC One in it's slot.

Having not heard of only two is a pretty good result, it's rare that I know more than 3 of the much bigger rating I'm A Celebrity's cast. I personally know of all but Courtney and the Irish woman (I wasn't really aware of Charlotte either but I'm aware of the existence of Georide Shore and have a rough idea of what it and it's cast are like so she feels more familiar than she is.)

I think it's good ITV are giving sitcoms a second series. The Job Lot moving to ITV2 says a lot. That's where it should have started.

Actually Benidorm was an overnight success. It started with 5million viewers at 10pm, an abnormally large audience for itv in that slot at that time. Even by the end of its series, it was getting 4million viewers at 10pm which is really good. It was a success straight off the bat, obviously when it got the Coro St. lead in for future series, ratings went up as they naturally do. But Benidorm was popular right from episode 1, very different to Vicious and Job lot which had the flagship post Coro St slot from birth but flagged hugely in the ratings. The Job Lot moving to itv2 is almost as bad as being axed.

No there's a difference of not knowing and literally never hearing of two. Plus just because I no some of the others doesn't mean that's a good result. The ones that are there are also pretty bad most of them are from those horrid reality shows.

Still a very good result, outside of special events like the Olympics, most people haven't seen most things.

Really pleased to hear that about Vicious. I understand why some people didn't get it but I thought it was at times hilarious, particularly Sir Ian's character.

But your not going to know everyone because the contestants picked will cater to different demographics. If your someone like me who watches a lot of different programs that perhaps aren't in my demographic, you'd know a lot more of them. And you don't need 'huge' celebrities for a show like this, the characters are much more important and their is certainly a lot in this series.

Good result for BB. Seems like it could be a great series.

Did the demographics suggest a move to ITV2 for The Job Lot?

I'm all for giving sitcoms time to find their feet but Viscious and The Job Lot were giving good slots on Mondays and lots of promotion and still lost half their audience.

It's not like these shows started low but kept their audience with viewers not bothering to watch. They watched it didn't like it.

Good for ITV in giving sitcoms a chance but I just think they are backing the wrong horses here.

So have you watched Dublin TV then? Because that's the only way you'd know one of the contestants and even then the people who lived there didn't know her.

In fact, thanks to some in the CBB ratings thread for pointing this out, not only did CBB beat the previous summer series, CBB10, but it's share, before the +1 figure, is higher than CBB10's overall.

Some Northern Irish will know her, plus she was clearly chosen for her persona and personality on that show, rather than her star pull. Which is as big and important a consideration, the cast's star factor may help launch and first night retention rates but it's their personalities which keeps viewers watching till the end.

Really please Vicious will be back,best comedy in years.

I haven't seen Dublin TV. I don't live in Ireland and haven't heard of the show but like Sid say's, some people in Ireland will know her. Just because I don't know one person isn't going to make it a bad cast. I knew all of the other twelve so that is fine for me. I really don't know why you're getting so bothered about it.

You might not have heard of her, but others might have. Do you expect them to get approval from every viewer and make sure everyone knows each housemate?

Poor rating for the Tom Hardy documentary. I thought that'd rate a bit better than it did.

Look am glad some enjoyed the show. It's just I was under the impression it was celeb BB and to me some of them just weren't celebs. I won't be watching it again but I can see why some do enjoy it because of as you there big personalities.

Wonder when Vicious series 2 will film, given the many other commitments of the 2 leads. Birds of a Feather is recording next month I believe.

Hefty decline that for Eastenders from the same Thursday a year ago, when it got 7.18m in the overnights.

The recommissions are a PR exercise more than anything else - ITV trying to send a signal that it won't axe new shows as soon as they start to flounder. There's a reason this was announced at the Edinburgh Television Festival ...

Unfortunately for Peter Fincham, however, with Vicious in particular, the odds are stacked against the channel. As you say, viewers deserted the show in their droves and luring them back will be a tall order. The show will need a massive reboot and the channel will need to find a new way of re-selling it to the public. It's not impossible, of course - in five years' time it may be a huge success - but it needs some experienced comedy talent behind the scenes ... which isn't exactly in abundance at Kudos.

ITV, like the BBC, is also upping is comedy investment to try and keep up with Sky, which has thrown huge amounts of money at it (with some success).
