Cbb +1?

So yet another BBC comedy flop eh? I said it would be down to 3m by week 3 it looks like I will be right on that one

I see Big School is co-written by Dawson Bros who also script that puppet show.

Disappointing rating for Big school. But if it continues to hold up around 3.6million, it is not that bad for a difficult Friday night slot in august.

Um it's not a flop.

Not bad for the soaps there. Surprised EE was higher then thurs episode as it normally rates its lowest on a Friday.

We both know that wouldn't be the case if it were ITV...

I thought last weeks launch rating was promising, and there was a good enough response on here. Hope it doesn't drop any further.

Big School doing OK, but it can't really afford to fall much further. I thought it might have had up a bit better than it did. For a show with such a strong cast I'm surprised more haven't given it a shot, although Fridays in August are not a good time to launch a new show. We'll see how it goes as the series rolls on.

Maybe on a hot summers day and a bank holiday weekend people are watching at different times to live channels??

So people 'want' to see Big School on Iplayer.

I think Thursday's EE was dented slightly by the Swansea Europa League match on ITV4, which I believe kicked off at about 7.05pm.

That CBB rating excludes +1, any idea what it got with it?

People have to make snap judgments on shows based on overnights figures in summer on a bank holiday weekend.

Who on earth would bother to see what timeshift and iPlayer figures are like before making a reasoned judgment. Totally barmy!

Pleasantly surprised to see CBB bat off Peter Kay so easily. On its last showing in December, in the same slot, ...at the Top of the Tower had 2.23m (10.4%) and 387k on +1. It will be interesting to see the +1s for both shows, which will no doubt make it a bit closer.

Last summer's CBB launched on a Wednesday (15 August), and ironically on the Thursday a Peter Kay show (new to Channel 4) aired against the second CBB episode:

CBB up about 500,000, maybe more, on the equivalent episode last year (which faced a more popular Peter Kay thing).

Looks like C4 have overdone it with the Kay repeats. Another C4 problem, not knowing when to leave it for a bit, instead exhausting anything remotely successful that they do.

Kylie Minogue is in talks with the BBC to replace Jessie J on the Voice. That would be a great coup if it materialises!

Says a lot about The Voice when more people seem interested in the changes in the panel, rather than the contestants.

How do we think tonight's primetime offerings will do?

The Harry Potter film being shown tonight only got about 3m for its first airing on New Year's Day 2012, being hit by EastEnders & Sherlock. The repeat airing in about April did better. I think 4 million.

I think That Puppet Game Show may actually fall below 2 million, and I Love My Country on the same level as last week.

Next Saturday onwards is when it gets really interesting

Good point. I still think that's a good rating for Big School. Not spectacular obviously, but I wouldn't write it off as a flop just yet based on those overnight figures.

For the record I thought CBB was poor last night, mostly due to the predictably lousy twist and its predictably ineffective execution. But, relieved to see it hold up that well. Great result for "the worst lineup ever". A fun series beckons now the nonsense is over.

The problem with Big School for me is that Walliams is incredibly polarizing, there is no middle ground on whether people take to him or not and secondly, great cast it may be, poor writing doesn't help and Walliams to me always comes across in acting as a one trick pony sort of guy (unless he's dressed up)

I can see why the audience dipped, I wouldn't say it's a flop but on a very wet gloomy August night it failed to raise the interest and I can see why the BBC shuffled it off here
