WB couldn't care less when or if ITV show the titles if they've cashed the cheque. Indeed the longer ITV hold off the better it is for them.

Turnaround times from cinema to TV seem to be getting a bit shorter (apart from the big franchises), though it's generally still a good couple of years from big screen to small screen.

ITV hardly premiere any films lately, in fact I can only think of 3 this year, Paranormal Activity, Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang & Despicable Me.

Do any films ever premiere on ITV2 first ?

The Dark Knight is too long unless they want the news at midnight, it is a film that hasn't yet received a terrestrial premiere along with quite a number of WB titles.
That one came out in July 2008! That is an awfully long time to wait for a terrestrial premiere.

2-2.5 years seems to be the current length with some films like the ones from BBC Films and Film4 airing within a year to eighteen months.

Its odd that none of the WB titles from 2009 or 2010 have received terrestrial airings nor the Paramount titles from 2010. I'm sure we will more premieres from September onwards.

I'm expecting a very comfortable ratings win for bbc1 at 9pm tonight. A top quality new documentary should ensure 4m for the Nations Favourite Channel. All other terrestrials will be around 2million mark if that. Very poor offering on a Bank Holiday from ITV.
I think BBC Two could have a poor night as two serious documentaries, Horizon looked very heavy going, are too much on the BBC's two main channels. Could Channel 5 come up from the rear and clinch third place as BBC Two and Channel 4 had some serious progrmmes on offer?

Bank Holiday TV was pretty poor all round really. The most exciting thing of note in the schedules was that ITV moved Take on the Twisters to 3.20pm for the day.

Is it possible they're 100% exclusive to Sky at the moment with no separate free to air contract?

Possible but perhaps it's because no new deal has been made by the studios for FTA film rights, ITV deal with WB and C4 deal with Paramount may have expired and they're negiotating new multiyears deals with broadcasters.

Really enjoyed big school after catching up tonight, hope it gets a second shot, maybe without doc Martin repeats on Fridays, it may rise slightly, I could see a Xmas special doing well, Xmas eve night! It's mainstream and funny which to be fair is pretty rare these days for a sitcom.

Not to my knowledge, nor on BBC Three.

I think we will see one of the lowest EastEnders episode this summer.

Warm Weather (South anyway) + Chelsea VS Man U + Bank Holiday(Which always seems to go against EastEnders in Summer).....5.1m is my guess

Coronation Street should be quite low as well considering the above.

The 8:30 showing as the football kicked off at 8 but still Bank Holiday affects EastEnders more. I guess the younger viewers are off making the most of the time off. What was the weather like Up North?

Yes, I was thinking more about the 8.30pm episode.

It was dry and warm during the United game if that helps.

I am back from holiday so you will see more BB/CBB posts

Caught up on the ratings, shame the last nights episode was only 1.67m for a Sunday CBB, but hopefully the Bank Holiday affected ratings. We can only compare to CBB10 as it was on at the same time of year, it got 2.3m officially, so hopefully CBB12 can match it... it would need to get 2m overnights though.

laughing at the comments, after catching up with What Remains, people saying its too complicated, its anything but!!! I thought a really great opener, actually up there for best drama this year. Hopefully it can maintain its audience, as I believe this is where drama should be heading, part thriller/cop show.

Hope you had a nice holiday.

It didn't feel right that you weren't here this time last week!! I think you would have been pleased with how BB finale night went.

UK TV Ratings ‏@TVRatingsUK 4m
Mon 9pm (exc +1): Ultimate Swarms 2.94m; Horizon 1.08m; The Bourne Identity 2.09m; Benefits Britain 1949 1.67m; Celebrity Big Brother 1.72m.
UK TV Ratings ‏@TVRatingsUK 1m
Sky Sports' coverage of Man United v Chelsea averaged 1.66m/8.2% (7-11pm), peaking with 2.89m/13.6% at 9.45pm.
Football could have taken 2nd spot in the 9pm hour?

Imagine how well it might have done if something interesting had happened in the game.

Collectively that must be the lowest rated performance in the 9pm hour on a Bank Holiday from the main 5 channels since records began. Really poor effort.

Hope CBB got close to 2m with +1. But is it just me, but those are very low ratings in general for the main channels.

CBB added 300,000 overnight in the exc. +1 figures and we don't know how well it might have done at 10pm yet. Still, it would have been nice if it capitalised more on a very quiet evening. Maybe viewers just didn't bother with the telly last night having seen how little effort was put in by most channels?

Cool fact: the main 5 channels combined managed 9.5m in the 9pm hour last night. On the same night in 2011, BBC1 alone scored 8.0m with a new episode of New Tricks.

Do the main 5 even bother with Bank Holidays anymore?

Low ratings all round, but at least ITV weren't bottom at 9pm as many of us predicted.

Compared to Bank Holiday Monday last year at 9pm:

New Tricks: 7.77m (31.6%)
Mountain Heroes: 2.16m (9.4%)
Celebrity Big Brother: 1.86m (7.6%) / 2.07m (8.8%)
Horizon: 1.54m (6.2%)
Alan Carr: Spexy Beast: 1.16m (4.7%) / 1.47m (6.4%)

And the year before:

Stephen Fry's 100 Greatest Gadgets (8pm-11pm): 1.93m (8.4%) / 2.15m (9.6%)
Soho Blues: 1.06m (4.2%)
New Tricks: 8.02m (31.8%)
Poirot: 1.95m (8.4%)
The Conspiracy Files: 2.2m (8.7%)
