2.2m compared to 1.9m clearly something is wrong and I expect a crisis meeting to be announced.
Yes, I am sure the producers are shitting themselves...

Nearly 2million is good for CBB.

I think it will rise now towards the eviction.

I'm not that into it this series yet.

Delighted that the 39th screenings [excluding +1 as we must! ] of The Bourne Identity ran BBC1s big new documentary a close second!
To be fair, it was no Frozen Planet. And to be fair, there was nearly a million in it.

Shocking that the top-rated programme on any channel apart from soaps and news was a revised repeat of Fake Britain (up against the first Corrie) with 3.23m (15.1%).

Total TV viewing in the 21:00 hour was 21.3m, down from 24.6m on the same Bank Holiday last year. The main 5 channels captured only about 44%, as against 60% last year when New Tricks was there.

I think it will climb. Why don't you ever slate other shows, just BB I have had enough of your bias. It is down a bit, but like CBB10-CBB11 it can climb throughout.
The first two were up on CBB10, not that there will be any crisis meetings 4 days in over a 140k drop, i4u's an ex-BBer who's done nothing but wind up it's remaining fans in the ratings thread slagging off it's performance, good and band, since the latter C4 years.

From Screenwatch:

Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo: 3.82m
Match of the Day 2: 2.42m

Not tape-checked, but both ran to time according to Overnights.tv so they will be fine for the prediction game.

The Tattoo did very well at 18:30. I assume that would be the actual highest rater of the day, aside from soaps and news (DS just look at primetime).

Hollyoaks C4: 718k (4.4%), E4: 430k (2.3%)

Emmerdale: 6.0m (31.8%, +1: 303k)

Corrie: 7.7m (36.1%, +1: 200k)

EastEnders: 5.9m (26.2%, +2.5: 560k)

Corrie: 8.0m (35.9%, +1: 311k)
26.2%? Looks like a pretty poor share for EE.
I thought that. Unless DS is wrong, it really is that low.

Neither; can't get into this series yet, possibly due to BB14 being my favourite series of Big Brother since 2004's series. Anything would have been hard to follow that series.

Meanwhile, official viewing figures for BB finale night are out. Massive timeshift for Under the Dome. Contrary to my earlier post, it looks like with ads stripped out it will have beaten Law & Order: Criminal Intent's launch in 2004 which managed 2.69m out of CSI.

MediaGuardian reports 1.2m/13.3% for Doctor Who at the Proms from 16:00 to 17:15.

I thought that. Unless DS is wrong, it really is that low.
The figures for EE and University Challenge (both of which ran to time) agree that an average of 22.6m watched TV broadcast in the 20:00-20:30 slot (1.3m more than in the 21:00-22:00 slot), so the share checks out.

EE would have needed 6.8m for a 30% share; 7.9m for 35%.

With Sky Sports 1 grabbing perhaps 2m+/9%+ in the slot (kick-off was at 20:00), I'm sure the football was a factor behind EE's poor share, although the figure was not as bad as dan2008 feared.

They aren't doing anything wrong with Celebrity Big Brother, its an OK line up with some great characters and an alright twist. The problem is simply overkill and coming straight off the back of a good series of Big Brother. Personally I watched launch night and expected to watch this series, but I just can't be bothered. I've just invested 10 weeks into the main series, I can't be bothered doing that again.

The interesting thing in terms of the ratings is the year on year comparisons because the main 2013 series was well up on the 2012 equivalent, yet the celebrity one may pan out as being down when in theory it should be up. Ironically, by fixing the problems with the main series, they may have hammered a nail into the coffin of CBB because maybe most viewers will only watch one or the other. It's something they definitely need to look at for next summer, purely because a few weeks after CBB is due to finish, I'm a Celebrity will be on. Then 6 weeks after IAC finishes, CBB will be back on, so by the time January comes around it may have well and truly hit overkill.

Sharon Osbourne really puts me off "The X Factor" wonder if the ratings will go low down to her awful false persona. I prefer a more natural style "The Voice" judges show. Its a nicer show

Does anyone know what The Incredible Spice Men (BBC2, 8.30pm) and World's Scariest Animal Attacks (C5, 8pm) got last night?

Many thanks!

The excellent Ray Donovan continues to perform well on Sky Atlantic. Series high last week. Did any other channels try to get this?

343k, 503k, 470k, 432k, 532k for the Tuesday debuts of the first five episodes.

Looks like the new policy of putting the first episode of new shows on On Demand a week before their linear broadcast is working well, as episode one is the lowest rating.

I would say that's a dead cert. The averages from 22:00-22:55 were:

Overnight: 2.03m (11.8%) inc +1
Semi-consolidated (i.e. inc 7-day recordings): 2.75m (14.5%) inc +1

When adjusting for the exact slot (22:01-22:54), and stripping out the breaks, it will probably be around 2.9m/15%, I reckon.

Excellent début. It will be interesting to see if the officials hold up better than the overnights for week 2.

Thanks for the interesting figures btw. I do love a consolidated breakdown!

Southcliffe's decline was steady.

2.77m, 2.27m, 1.79m, 1.58m.

Watched all four over the weekend, I can see why every episode got less viewers.

Top of the Lake sadly dropped from 2.7m to 1.72m, a different class.

Delighted to see the main channels getting the crap ratings they deserve.
It restores me faith in people that they have figured out it is not the 70s and you are not restricted to a couple of channels for 'entertainment'.
A dire line up on the so called big five at nine, the doc about the swarms looked reasonable, and it's been recorded as my brother was up for his birthday, but a tedious doc on Horizon, yet another showing of the Bourne Identity on ITV, a worthy but dull doc on Channel 4 and a passe reality show on 5, not a great choice. People wanting entertainment, sports, drama and new films will have been looking elsewhere and it showed.
Also fitba fans, for all it was a slow game, will have made a beeline to SS1.

From Channel 4 Sales (inc +1):

C4
20:00 - Attack of the Zeppelins: 1.38m

Film4
19:30 - Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King: 573k

Drama
20:40 - Birds of a Feather: 192k

All-day shares (inc +1)
BBC One: 19.1%
BBC Two: 5.1%
ITV: 14.3% approx
Channel 4: 5.6% approx
Channel 5: 5.0%
Others: 50.9% approx

BT Sport 1 had 0.9% of viewing all day Saturday, 0.1% on Sunday and 0.2% yesterday. I'm assuming that Channel 4 are handling BT's ad sales, hence the new sport channels' inclusion on the C4 site.

Episode 1, series 2 of Bad Education is now available on iPlayer, a week before it airs on BBC Three.

And very funny it is too, having watched it on my iPad this lunchtime. However it did make me feel a bit sad, it really doesn't seem the best way to watch a great TV programme, on your own, on a Tuesday lunchtime. I'd much prefer to be watching it on a TV, with friends, laughing together, once a week. I always used to look forward to Monday nights 10pm to watch The Inbetweeners with my flatmates. Proper event TV, even if it was a pre recorded sitcom.

Anyhow it seems they're going to rely on word of mouth, most publicity seems to only point to BBC3 next Tuesday.

One other thing to mention from it - they had a trail before the programme began, with a countdown to the programme in the corner. The first time for iPlayer I think.

It will be interesting looking at the iPlayer chart over the next few days. There's already a good few tweets from people who've seen it, so it will be fascinating to see how it does.

New Tricks should be interesting tonight with one of Britain's most loved actors joining the cast and an interesting plot. For all the football on ITV1 should attract about 4 million, I can still see New Tricks attracting over 7 million. This veteran show, now in its tenth series, has certainly won the viewers over and the mixture of humour and police work has been excellent.

The football won't get 4 million as it is a comfortable win for Arsenal*, 3-0 ahead already.

Looking at those figures for BB at 21:55 there's a surge of about 600,000 and the ratings continue to rise to almost 3m for the Dome. When the Dome ends & BB returns there's a drop of 600,000. It looks like The Dome helped BB rather BB helping the Dome?

It's a shame for ITV that the CL game is over. Fenerbache won't trouble Arsenal at home and again it looks like it's going to be a warm night with garden and BBQ potential which will drag away football fans.

Liverpool - Notts County appeals more to me and it's a shame ITV didn't pick up the 2nd leg of Celtic vs Whaddyacallthem because that COULD be a great game for neutrals

(edit - aware Celtic on Sky)

Never say never, but the football will do better than some of the 2 million rating factual on ITV on Tuesdays, possibly 4 million if the result goes the wrong way. However, last year CL matches didn't really set the ratings world on fire in the group stage.
