No...I think Bank Holiday and Football was the reason as Tuesdays figure and share was up.

Is Alfie ,Billy ,Kim ,Jean, Ollie , Phil all classed as Teens now?

I wonder how much longer I will keep the old girl running. This may be hard to believe but I have always owned British cars! And yes I had an Austin Allegro! My mates all had second had VW Golfs or something trendy, then came a nasty Rover 400 (Honda basically) and now the hollowed out tree trunk I lumber around in now. An Appalling But British car history. What the hell next???

Oh Christ I got sidetracked again! I'll leave it in for the interest Steve Williams car fanatic twin brother!

I did actually...The last few weeks have been a bit boring and I have slated it a couple of times but I liked both Monday and Tuesdays episodes. It was different and
I enjoyed each half hour so I guess that's all that matters

For the first time in my 20 years of watching. EastEnders has not been my number 1 soap lately but I know that is about to change again.....

That's the problem out of all of those characters Phil is the only one who has been in it for more than a decade. EastEnders has lost its identity. Gone are the strong matriarchs and the East End strong families like the Fowlers. EastEnders has lost all of its strong characters in the space of five or six years. Its trying to be like Hollyoaks and failing.

Corrie is a success because ITV have kept hold of the older viewers by giving cast members who have devoted a large part of their lives to the show golden handcuff deals. I know the BBC can't afford to do this. I just feel the cast has changed so dramatically that it feels like a different programme. I stopped watching in about 2009.

Billy...He joined Late 1990's (Maybe even 1996)

Alfie has been a known character for over a decade (Of course he left for a few years) Jean has been around since 2005 so close enough (and she's a highly popular character.)

There is still plenty of older characters (ones that have been in the show for a decade or more) Dot,Ian,Phil ect still get a lot of screen time.

I think DTC will restore EastEnders back to the earlier days (at least ones he was around in) He seems more based on Beales,Butchers/Jacksons,Mitchells and with Ronnie and David coming back too of the family's will be at the forefront.
A new character coming in for Bianca and of course the Beales have been rebuilt have Kirkwood destroyed them.

2009 so you would know...

Spoiler
Patrick,Denise,Mo(Guest star now),Jean,Kat,Alfie,Ian,Dot,Phil,Max,Jack,Roxy,Sharon,Bianca,Carol,Whitney,Janine (Ronnie,David coming back and Peggy for a one off),Billy,Mas,Abi,Jay

SCD is going to be the ratings winner once again. X factor should see a slight rise. Word of mouth will increase it's ratings. Eastenders will be back up soon

In theory the overall fall in the ratings of the terrestrial channels should be levelling off now DSO is complete. Yes, there are still new channels launching but not at the rate they were a few years back - and apart from the odd UKTV launch, nothing too significant either in the FTA market at least. Probably still some growth in the on demand market - not so much catch up I'd have thought but with services like Netflix etc, and with 90% of viewing is still said to be live there is still very much a space for linear TV.

Competition from other activities rather than television itself probably the bigger factor now - though if TV will spend hours pointing people to Facebook and Twitter they only have themselves to blame. Who knows - perhaps TV's next big threat will be people actually going out, especially if we ever get out of this recession.

I think the lesson from the US is that "more channels" alone isn't the biggest threat. The biggest threat is that those channels get substantial investment.

Agree...The BBC now advertising Tuesday 7:30pm for next week's big storyline that runs for about 3 weeks,The week after we get 5 episodes and the spoilers seemed well received. Of course two more returns towards the end of the month and now a new spoiler....A Known Character goes missing Suddenly but will they be found dead or alive? http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/news/exc...ad.php#results

Strictly...I think it will do well once again this year.

Anyone know if I can see all the posts I have sent on this thread. I just wanted to comment on a suggestion I made for the voice back in may, was too have auditions throughout on Saturdays with live shows on the Sunday to eliminate the contestants from the sat audition show, reading about the X factor blurg in the radio times-they've pretty much stolen my idea!

Interesting article in Telegraph about British Bake Off demos, more men watched that than the football on Tuesday apparently.

But as TGGBO increased its audience by 2m from start to finish it can be assumed that many of those could have been watching the football as well.

It's so annoying that broadcast journalists don't understand how ratings work. It's all black and white for them.

Wentworth won't do that well unfortunately.

I absolutely loved it so I hope it did really well but I don't expect it did much better than about a million.

Maybe word of mouth will help it along. Excellent response from viewers.

He's a vulgarist.

He should remain on the vulgarists' channel of choice, ITV2.

I don't particularly like her, but she was TV Gold when she had her breakdown on CBB a million years ago, and I think she will be a sight to behold on the dancefloor.

Wow at Wentworth!!! that's even better than I hoped for.

Hopefully it will stay stable or even better increase as the season goes on. The response has been overwhelming positive so word of mouth could aid the show even more.

unfortunately I only saw 10 mins, as I fell asleep (not a reflection on the show)

Looked good from what I saw, very weird seeing something else play Bea Smith

I read on Twitter that it was like Battlestar Galactica approach to Cell Block H

Argggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!! I was meaning to watch Wentworth but then damn well forgot it was on! Getting up at 6am for work each day means beddy byes at 10 now. So despite well intentioned ideas of recording Wentworth, I forgot it was on ande forgot it was on! Is it being repeated? And, for you guys that watched, was it any good?
