Good morning all.

On the subject of dentists, it reminded me when my eldest daughter had to have an extraction and requested being knocked out with gas. I tried to talk her into having an injection, but she wasn't having it. Anyway, I was called in to assist the staff because she was fighting them off trying to get the mask on her face. Well I managed to get thrown out of the surgery after freaking out more than my daughter. This was over twenty years ago, but I still visualise it as a mini horror show.

The weird thing is that my phobia of heights - which is what this is, bridges are merely a variation on a theme, is not so much falling but of jumping.

I feel like when I get near an edge that my mind is going and i fear I will lose all reason and jump. Go figure.

Oh my goodness me, thrown out be the dentist?

She does seem to have a generous soul and almost escapes some of the madness by drifting into her own world.

I like her, but then I get a pang of guilt for watching her. I find her funny, but then I wonder if I'm laughing at her rather than with her.

I gasp at her dress sense, but also admire her guts.

I wonder if she looked differently, we'd be as intrigued or that fascinated.

She truly is an oxymoron.

Or should I of said contradiction?

Thankfully my driving days were brief ...... but the way I was going it would have only been a matter of time

Morning. I had gas as a kid and freaked out as it was being experienced; it was like an out of body experience. Dentist told my mother never again.

I know, I sometimes think I may just drive over the edge

Took my daughter to the Grand Canyon and she kept standing quite close to the edge. Honest to God I was as we say here 'a barra job'.

I think it is because of who and how she is, that has us intrigued. Were we this intrigued by Nadia or Luke A? I think they're the closest comparisons we have.
Her eccentricity just adds to the fascination .....

I am the same, but only when looking directly down. Stayed in a hotel in New Zealand a couple of years ago that was some 50 floors up. The window in the room looked directly down to the ground. Had to steel myself to look down; got the sensation of freefalling.

I dont think we were so much with those two because they seemed more 'comfortable in their skin' than Lauren. Maybe also knowing Laurens back story makes her more of a fascination

I remember getting the gas too and was sick all day afterwards. Horrible experience.


Talking about heights....has anyone been to the top of Blackpool Tower and where they have this glass partition on the floor and you can see all the way down? OMG that freaked me right out. I was actually dizzy and felt faint just imagining that there was no glass there.

That's true. So it had to be her appearance and eccentricity that makes her fascinating. Also the fact that we saw her as a male, a might weird, but we've almost been whiteness her transformation.

I feel guilty saying this, but I feel sorry for her.

I did the glass SkyWalk at the Grand Canyon. My husband and daughter bullied me into it.

It was hell on earth.

Oh I know what you mean. Other people on edges are even worse.

At least when its me I have some feedback on the 'loosing it' scale. I feel I am going to any minute but know I haven't quite yet. With other you just don't know at what point they will slip or throw themselves over the edge.

I went with a former boyfriend to Barcelona and he wanted to climb the Sacrada Familia (V big, not quite finished cathedral) So reluctantly I agreed - and that is love folks, the git should have married me for that alone - sorry digression rant in check.

There were lots of school parties and the building is like giant lace curtains, effing holes everywhere. The kids were running and fooling around and scaring the sh one t out of me.

I made the climb to the top where I sat firmly on the floor and flatly refused to look at the view. and after all that he still married someone else grrrrr.

My first dentist scared me so much I didn't go again for 20 years after I was 18.
He eventually quit after coming back from 'a long lunch' and passing clean out over a patient
later I went out with someone who was so scared of dentists she had to have valium for 2 days before. A side-effect was she swore a lot. Getting her to the practice was a nightmare - she'd stumble down the street shouting at people and charging into shops to complain about the window displays
Next day it would be 'well that wasn't as bad as I thought'

I've never experienced anything quite like it An. Up until that point I was never scared of heights. In fact I did the Pepsi Max rollercoaster ride on my own (yep I'm a bit of a nutter) but that experience of just looking down was as though you were about to jump out of a plane. Horrible

I just truly laughed out loud in the office! My boss gave me a very strange look. Sssssshhh!
