Interesting thread which is more than can be said about my username! It's not even my real name as when I first signed up I was afraid someone in my RL might recognise me!!

BB14 is the first I've watched since it finished on Channel 4. I always used to read the WHATM thread and loved some of the usernames. Babycatcher was always one of my favourites and I have a recipe saved somewhere for Snozzwangler's banana bread.

That was a great name, especially as she's a midwife.

My usual user name used to be 'daemonette' or 'daemonette666' on the web sites I frequented and it was based upon my favourite demonic archetype from a roleplaying system called Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.

What I discovered after a few years was that most people assumed I was female based upon the user name so I shortened it and have stuck to that user name everwhere I go ever since.

I chose mine in a hurry...it was going to be Sparkle-kitten Cardigan.

I need to change mine as it's too similar to FM Daisy Bumbleroot and people have mistaken me for them but DS won't let me....I've got such a better name lined up too.

I am wondering if I am the only person who has a distinct visual of some of FMs. This usually stems from their user names. I have a very clear picture of some of you in my minds eye. Do others create an image of posters they respond to regularly?

Yes I do. I do it at work too, I used to talk to a solicitor regularly who I imagined to be tall dark and handsome. I met him years later and he turned out to be short, fat and sleazy. Such a disappointment! Totally ruined my fantasy.

Of course the fm's here are all extremely beautiful, talented and intelligent. I can tell that from their usernames.

I notice someone refers to Rancidbeings as RB and asked if she minded. If she doesn't I think I will adopt that to I really don't like calling you Rancid - for obvious reasons.

Pugamo - I always thought was Italian. I think you could invent a back story to go with it on those lines Pugamo. Fictional back stories are all the rage this season it seems.

Flights815-23D Always stands out for me. I have it in my head that the posters is American. I always thought she was a he until very recently. I didn't and still get the flight number connection. I may have derived the American bit from the idea of being a long way away and having a flight number as an ID.

This is the first year I have realised that Dangermoose was a she and also that it wasn't Dangermouse. I honestly thought it was Dangermouse until this BB. Probably why i thought she was a chap not a chapess.

It's Od Hominem. Someone called me on it, and said I'd made a mistake, that it should be Ad Hominem. I did make a mistake (never try to register when you've had a couple of glasses of dothering liquid) but not in that way. It was supposed to be Odd Hominem; a play on 'ad hominem' but I forgot to add the extra D. I consoled myself with the fact that it sounded phonetically correct. Maybe I should've just chosen Weird Geezer and had done with it.

Guess I was too busy earlier whinging about my ill-thought out bloody asterisks to bother explaining the ethos behind my username.......if anyone speaks 'forrin' like me, they'll have figured out that (loosely translated) it means 'serene soul'

I have been known to be straight down the line outspoken, because I have a very low BS tolerance. And after having been dragged into some cyber rucks in other paces over the years, I figure my name will remind me to try and swerve past any 'grief' I may see here at DS.

There was a customised hearse named The Coffin Shifter, featured in Custom Car magazine at the time, & I liked it, so 'nicked' the name.

I think my username is very bland - but maybe that is what I wanted, to blend in and 'schmooze' wherever I wanted without making waves. I think I had just got back from selling charity raffle tickets to strangers in a pub, and a friend who is had commented that I was (perhaps only compared to her) good at schmoozing. Saying that I am not entirely sure that I spelt it right..

I've read through all of this and loved it. There's some very clever and witty people on DS. And some fms have made me laugh out loud.

I love my username and the fact that people shorten it (affectionately I hope in some cases ).

I chose it because, at the time, I felt I was a mug due to certain choices I'd made in my life.

When I joined DS and had to choose a username I was listening to a cd by a band called Brutal Truth so I just picked that.
It was either that or Brian Fantana (the character from Anchorman) as people say I look like him.

Your not alone in generating a visual image out of the forum members name. I had you down as a university professor with facial hair. how wrong can one be! I'd hate to think of how people visualise me

T'was me who refers to Rancid as RB. I'm so pleased she doesn't mind. It's meant in an affectionate way as we have shared a few posts and tend to agree, mostly
