Actually Patsy you are one of the people I have a strong visual for and yes you are. Shoulder length dark wavy hair, porcelain skin and a very attractive chic 40 something (like Snow White grown up) - Don't spoil my image now.

I am off to find my NO-NO to remove the whiskers I seem to have developed.

Mine is simply my old C4 and GaGa forum name 'Kimota' with a 'g' added. Can't remember why, I did that. The Kimota bit comes from an old 80's comic called 'Warrior'.

Sometimes, I conclude from posts that the person commenting is a male, and other posters female. Sometimes, they seem very young, or pretty mature in years. Then they post a comment that reveals a little bit about themselves, and I realise, I got it completely wrong. Not that it matters in any way. It just shows that my powers af perception can be way off.

lol it's so hard to tell from the written word though isn't it, just as it's hard to tell tone, or humour sometimes, even with the best use of smilies in the world.

I will add that following on from the description of your username, I now have a very vivid image of monkey13's feet!! It is also true though that when people have an animal name I do slightly imagine the animal in question I suppose. Not that I literally think anyone with an animal in their name looks like said animal, obviously!! It is odd because I don't imagine for example that the person with John Locke in your username is remotely like John Locke..?! (Incidentally, Locke was an amazing character! Although I will never forgive Lost for it's horrendous ending and have no desire to ever watch anything from it ever again, or therefore to remember it much... very sadly indeed as I loved it at the start.)

Oh, and for some reason muggins14's name reminds me of Harry Potter... I suppose "muggins" is slightly redolent of "muggle"...

It too reminds me a little of Queen, but also I like that your posts are generally amusing & thus you are like the playful beelzebub and this fact makes me do a double smile at your posts - one for the content and one for the fact that it's posted by such a username! I do love these threads where we all chat like friends.

The user name I think is the strongest guide for me to creating the visual. For example there is a poster called Scarlett O'Hara - who of course in my head looks like Vivien Leigh. This year I realised there were two Scarletts - I had been replying to each as if they were one. So Scarlett Berry still looks like Vivien Leigh but instead of dark green is wearing red velvet with a white fur trim - A sort of 'omage to Santa.

Animal names tend to get the image of the animal for me too. So I am afraid Monkey 13 my image for you is brown and furry with long arms. After today you have become brown and furry with long arms and prehensile toes!

A few are guided by their writing style I have to say. There is a poster (good posts with lots of purple prose and I don't mean that disparagingly) I think of as looking like a young Ernest Hemingway and living and writing his posts from a rather shabby chic beach hut on stilts somewhere.

Loved B L Zeebubs comment about not being able to think of anything so using his/her real name.

Oh and for the record I am a 40 something (lets not get too hung up on such details) female, blonde, 5'1" and beardless - so far anyway.

Yep. Smilies do help to soften posts sometimes though.

Agree with you. I also had a lurk through those threads too and as a newbie wouldn't dream of joining in. I just feel like it would be a total intrusion to something that's very solid. But I do enjoy the camaraderie and friendships going on in those threads.

What a great idea. I would like to suggest another of these threads for next time. I've thouroughly enjoyed this thread.

It's made such a pleasant change to the nasty ones.

I too see Scarlett O'Hara as Vivien Leigh. Scarlett Berry's great; I'm going to put her in the Vivien red coat too, now.
