As its a hot energetic activity they get a build up of gunk inside them (sorry to be disgusting) because despite their fragility they are a performance shoe.

A good rub with a cotton ball soaked in witch hazel clears all the build up of gunk and makes the smell fresh too (and doesn't harm the inside of the shoe as water might). It works just as well with normal street shoes and sports shoes especially.”

Tips as well as trivia - what an education this thread is turning out to be

I'll take that one away and puzzle over it while I make tea, I think.
Either that or find a large tea tray to bang on my head

I love how this thread is so positive. Wait till tomorrow and CBB starts! All will be forgotten and the member bashing will begin again.

You gotta love it though.

Oh no Can't we have a thread a day thing. We'll nominate someone to do the following day's thread starter to get people involved, then let it wind up in similar loveliness over the course of the day?!

Can we? Can we? Please?

Okay but you have to be the 'lovely thread' monitor. I can only be nice for so long

In some cases it can seem like that, it's also a bit daunting joining a long established thread for the 1st time. We try our best to be welcoming & include others...........strangers are only friends you haven't met yet. ”

Strangers are only friends you haven't yet met........I saw that and my heart nearly stopped, for my dear old Scottish Mum used to say that to me often.......one of the many.......as well as........You can only wear one pair of shoes'.........

......I have lived by those, and can confidently go into any room of strangers and not feel uncomfortable, because every one of us has a story to tell.......and by.......some of those stories are so interesting.......

.....back to my cup of tea and memories of a lovely wise Mum........

Ooh I don't know.

In a way though I think a fresh one every day, with a new topic could work real well. It's amazing how the new respondees wane as the thread establishes, like.

I'm happy whatever though - just be nice to have a safe place for the ensuing storms!

To be honest, I don't think I'm very suited to that role...

Maybe that's what we should call it 'The Lovely Thread' I like that!

I've just spotted a username on the board that I love, love, love. Phyllis Stein I get the pun on the name but every time I see it I still get that feeling of a razor sharp old Jewish Yenta
