There's a few other, very long-running threads that in all seriousness probably would have been given the same treatment, but it just appears to be traditional to leave them. In various forums.
I believe some have been here and back over time.”

DS works in mysterious ways; those who were complaining about this thread being on BB did not, it is clear, have precedent on their side. I suppose it was just that we had more traffic the the lurking chunderers and stayed on the front page.

Yup, I think the conclusion was exactly that.
Big target. Didn't really work though - got away with murder.

I've just looked up 'the lurking chunderers', and apparently there hasn't been an outbreak since the Sudan Campaign thank goodness

Makes no difference to me: it is inconsistency that irks. As chatter is deemed to be inconsequential, posts are not added to tallies. The same should apply to the waffle back where we came from.

I know what you mean, but if the chatter tally was added to the rest I'd probably have walked out into the hills to disappear forever with the shame of it all.
Mind you, I'll bet my youngest posts about a months worth of my output to her Facebook account every 2 days.

my mum campaigned vigorously against afghans in my youth, they smelt of wet goat and patchouli, anyone who wore one had to leave them in the garden....

Managed to avoid them, and loon pants, thank goodness.
Mind you, I was known to wear knee length silver boots and a cloak with a red lining (long before glam rock)

Anyone remember red and black striped bootlaces?
I split the seams of a pair of jeans once, then punched in eyelets and threaded loads of the bootlaces through to hold them together and let the laces drop as a fringe, then took the white crossthreads out of the bottom 4" of the jeans to make a fringe like Zulu leg adornments

No, there aren't any photos.

Here is one of Dave's coincidences. Patchouli was a new one on me and I had just read your post when I turned to page three of The Times which contained a piece about a 1970's perfume making a comeback, some muck called Aqua Munda. "The scent is made with essential oils of mandarin, ginger, lavender, patchouli, cinnamon and other aromatic herbs such as eucalyptus, tarragon and juniper berry."

i have to admit Aqua Manda sounds chunder inducing

Aqua Manda, wasn't it?
Came in an orange bottle. I remember Liberty's in London sold it. There's an orange liqueur you see in Duty Frees in Portugal/Spain that I love, that smells similar - lasts about 5 minutes and you wake up the next day with a filthy but sweetly orange taste in your mouth.

I actually dream of that smell sometimes!!!! It's one of those perfumes you never forget. I bet it really smells terrible to the 21st century nose.

EDIT: what a prat - why did I never think of Googling it - duh ....

Manda it is and it is in an orange bottle, yours on ebay for 60 notes. A Facebook campaign has been set up for its return.
