I stuck myself with a really crap username on another forum I post on a lot - it's so bad I'm thinking of rebranding, even though this means starting from scratch - so I thought carefully before going with missedtheshow for Digital Spy. I was somewhat surprised that it was still free.

I really wish these sites would allow you one username change for hastily chosen usernames!

I don't regret mine yet but my molliepops (retriever cross collie) is 12 now and coming slowly to the end of her life, when she goes I know I will regret using her name and being reminded everytime I log in she is no longer with us.
oh I do sympathise Molliepops we get so attached to our pets maybe because they dont answer back I often wonder if we would be so attached to them if they did and what would they say? Try to be strong xx

Mine sure answer back and quite frankly, I'd rather not usually know exactly what they're saying ..... Little Kitty Tiddler (not her real name but damn, wish I'd thought of that a year ago!!) shouts so much abuse at me when I bring her in for the night before stomping off in an almighty huff

not good for a girl's self-esteem!
You'll probably not be surprised to hear that I (and probably everyone else) assumed you were male.

I interpreted it as 'Me sos Tim'
Never in all these years have I made the connection between your name and a golden labrador (despite having grown up with one myself).

I always think of a yellow New York taxi when I see your name.

Yellow Cabbie, I suppose.

Mine is a nickname we have for our cat, I don't regret it but I feel that it prevents me from being taken seriously

Edit to add: it's sweet to see how many others used their pets name!

The only good one of those I can think of is Yeah_Jackie. Love that username.
It should've been 'Yeah_Brackie' though.

Another fm said that earlier in the thread

Yellow cabbie indeed

They are known as yellow labradors, it is the retriever that is known as a golden retriever.

What a brilliant thread. Why do the good threads always catch on when I am not around meaning I am relegated to page 4. ( I was only out for 2 hours!!!).

I have only read page 1 but agree with the OP. I do gt her user name but I find it a difficult one. I like to chat to some users; the ones I respond to a lot as if they were friends so tend to make a first and second name from the screen name. So I like Patsy (Limerick), Scarlett (both of them) Dave (the sensible - and sometimes quite delightfully silly).

I respond to you a lot Rancid and always have an ick moment when I do that i.e.- call you Rancid. It doesn't sound nice does it and you clearly are!!!

Mine is my second user name. I used to post then stopped for some years, forgot the name (it was dance related - my other passion and I do the SCD forums too) changed computers, lost track of the account - la la la. I deliberately chose a user name that could be made into a given name and family name. People sometimes assume I am an anthropologist - which is a lie! But do have two degrees in subjects related to social psychology so its good enough I think.

Will enjoy reading what people have written here.
There's some corkers of reasons - glad I asked, as I'd read some soooo wrong, and laughed a lot! And I've learnt a lot to boot Your one drives me nuts because by brain always adds an extra 'an' i.e. An Anthropologist

You'll probably not be surprised to hear that I (and probably everyone else) assumed you were male.
That's true! I wonder why that is Are men more rancid than us ladies?

I'm *so* glad you said that - it's exactly what I'd always thought!

Mine is taken from a line of the Led Zeppelin song Kashmir:

Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace
Like thoughts inside a dream
Heed the path that led me to that place
Yellow desert screen

I have no bleedin idea what it means but I liked the sound of it, and being a huge Led Zep fan I nicked it

I do regret mine, it's simply my real first name and the first letter of my last.

My imagination simply wasn't working the day I signed up.
You and me both! Only I also added a random year at least a decade before I was ACTUALLY born

Ooooh someone replied and now I don't know who as I forgot to press quote, but no I didn't see BB 7 so I don't know Sprial! He is certainly not to do with my name!

While I am here though I would like to tell a story as I think it would be a nice name for a message board (not the context of the story but I hope relevant enough to bring it here!?!)

Are you sitting comfortably?

A few years ago I saw a film at the pictures. It was called "I love you, Phillip Morris" and it was pretty good.

But that's not the point. The point is, as the credits rolled at the end of the film, I happened to notice a man's name - the music editor. He was called Oliver Hug (I love a hug!!!!!) And, I do love hugs. I was so excited by Oliver Hug. I imagined perhaps we could get married. Have babies. Irma Hug (I'm a hug) and Uma Hug (You're my hug) and maybe Hope Hug!!! And my name is Carolyn which I guess very tenuously could be 'Carry a hug' (no idea what that means.)

I am ashamed to admit I even looked up Oliver Hug on the internet movie database to see if he was marriageable... in fantasy land, hahahahhaa!!!

What an amazing name though, eh? Tell me it isn't just me.....

Ummmmm.... Anyway, if anyone is looking for a username that'd potentially ensnare me (I know everyone would want to do that ahahaha) Oliver Hug would be it.

Damn, I called ours a golden labrador for fourteen years.

How embarrassing is that?

Yes, my old labbie is leaking a little now, bless him.

Labradoodles are great, they don't lose as much hair as labs.
I still prefer labs though.
...... Awwww......lovely soppy things aren't they.......my daughter said that she chose that breed (?) because they do not shed.......at the moment that's the least of her problems.......had to buy some Jeyes liquid for the lawn, and loads of wipes for the pee................ had dreadful thoughts about a little poodle mating with a big labrador......

It entirely depends on who's on top.

One way, it's quite a funny mental image, the other way just seems like sexual assault.

I've just done some research and the golden labrador is a cross between a yellow lab and a golden retriever. It's not pure bred apparently.

Ours would've been a yellow one, I believe she had papers. (there should be a sarcastically smug smiley face for these moments)

Love it. Ned a Hug would work as well.
