But BB5 wasn't the first BB that was "themed".
While BB5 had it's "evil" theme as an alternative to BB4,...BB4 had it's lovey, lovey, nicey, nicey, with sugar on the top theme as a contrast to the criticisms BB had because of the complaints about BB3.
It was an objective of BB4 to be all lovey, dovey,..and they wanted the housemates to have meaningful talks, be in harmony with each other, and they even hoped that people would fall in love.
At the start of BB4 they even had feng shui experts and interior designers explaining how they had desigened the BB house to facilitate this goal.
Cameron looked liked he fitted the spirit of this ideal perfectly, and his role was one they could use to support this fake image of peace and happiness, and being a Christian bible reader helped support this image even further.
They even made sure that most of Cameron's unpleasant side of his personality was kept out of the edits on the main CH4 show.
This idea might have worked for them if it wasn't for the fact that it all looked a bit too fake. With housemates being ever so nice to each other all the time, it just didn't feel right because it was obvious that for most of the time they were putting on a bit of a performance of being lovely nice people.
If it felt real, viewers might have had more positive feelings about the housemates,..but if it didn't feel right, and they just looked like they were just being falsely nice to each other to avoid being nominated, then the image of a loving, happy house might just look boring, because underneath many of us felt it wasn't real.
