I don't agree that they were being ever so nice to each other all the time or that they were any more "fake" than a fair number of HMs in other BBs.

The mystery of BB4 hatred remains unexplained.

Maybe it was just such a let-down after two really enjoyable series ?

I remember this very forum as BB4 got under way.

Within a day or two the usual hotheads were proclaiming everyone boring and dull, and I was one of the ones saying 'give them a chance to settle in, settle down, get some group dynamic going'

But eventually, after a few weeks, I just had to throw in the towel and admit that it was pretty dull. I like the idea of HMs sitting around talking, that appeals to me. But they didn't have anything to talk about, they were just dull people. When they realised this, they retreated into sunbathing and reading.

OK, if that is the background hum to 'action', then fair enough.

But the action was dull as well. The tasks were either ridiculous or ephemeral and the reward room was just boring week after week. They weren't interesting even when they were drunk.

Over nine weeks there was some highlights but they were few and far between.

Why? Boring hours are boring hours, even if there's "action" from time to time. The BB4 Africa swap, and its ramifications, was more interesting than most things in BB5. (It's typically dismissed as a gimmick, as if BB5 weren't full of those, or denounced as dull for no reason that makes any sense to me.)

I can understand people thinking BB4 was dull if they thought the same about what other BBs were like much of the time, and I could understand if they just thought BB4 didn't have enough, or high enough, high points. If they liked it a bit less than others, rather than seeing it as standout bad.

But instead people talk as if BB4 were dull virtually all the time while BB5 (for example) was constantly interesting.

The reason HMs were reading in BB4 is that they were allowed to have books. As for sunbathing, the BB5 HMs spent a lot of time in bed, in the spa, or even sunbathing, despite the "evil" plan to stop them doing it.

That tasks weren't great, but neither were many other tasks from other BBs. (Wasn't one of them eating peas, or was it stakcing sugar cubes, attempting to break some silly record?) The only task I thought was worth much in BB5 was the Boot Camp. The Fast Food one at least kept some of them up at night, but it could have come straight from BB4.

Then there's nights. At night, except during a couple of tasks, and some few and far between nights of conflict, BB5 had less going on than BB4. Sure, some FMs found Victor and Jason's night-time chats endlessly fascinating, but I quickly tired of them.

And what did the BB5 HMs have "to talk about" that was so interesting?

Nothing

But as I have already posted on the other thread I thought BB4 was better than BB5

With both of them the main problem I had was that there was no one to like. Perhaps I liked Jon a bit, but that was it

Unless there is someone I like I can't get engaged in it.
