a Streets song came on shuffle on my ipod last night and i went back and listened to this album..didn't realize it's 10+ years old.

as a young lad just starting my teens this album was everything at the time.
it mixed all the genres i was listening to into one classic album.

oh the irony, an artist championing going out and creating new music, it was a decent hit, then people did just the opposite and the era of shamelessly manufactured, generic, musak was ushered in...

One of the first examples of chav culture penetrating music.

An album that perfectly captures and sums up a specific time and moment (the early 00s). Every time I listen to that album I'm reminded of being 16 and doing my GCSEs. Amazing album, though it's a shame Mike Skinner went crap after A Grand Don't Come For Free.

'Shamelessly manufactured' music has been around for over half a century. It's nothing new.

nonsense.

you can count on one hand the number of totally manufactured acts pre the saw hit factory c 1987, and it WAS shameful to have a degree of manufacturing. the monkees were derided for it...but went on to prove their critics wrong by becoming a decent pop group.

the charts nowdays are littered with totally manufactured acts who bare no shame in being so...
