I've Got Class' Fantasy EastEnders
I took an extended break from the forum due to major changes in my personal life, however, I am now back on the forum with the news that I shall be running another Fantasy EastEnders: which shall hopefully receive the same level of praise as my previous attempts!

EastEnders return for Joe Wicks
EastEnders bosses have today announced that Joe Wicks, as played by Paul Nicholls, will be making a return to Walford later this year. Having previously appeared on screens in the mid-nineties, Joe is expected to arrive on Albert Square to make amends with his father, and fellow returnee, David Wicks (Michael French). Since departing his role as Joe in 1997, Paul has had continued success as an actor. Most notably, he has had roles in Law and Order: UK, The Passion and Candy Cabs – the latter alongside fellow ex-EastEnder Jo Joyner. According to The Sun, Joe’s on screen mother Lorraine (Jacqueline Leonard) could also be making a return to the BBC One soap, although a spokesperson for the actress was not available to comment. Speaking of Joe’s return, new executive producer I’ve Got Class stated: “Welcoming Paul Nicholls back to the EastEnders family is extremely exciting. As a viewer, I remember watching the episodes where Joe’s mother Lorraine locked Joe in the kitchen of The Queen Victoria with huge anticipation – it was good, gritty family drama, EastEnders at its best! I have always found the David and Joe connection to be understated and underexplored, I hope viewers find their reunion to pack a great dramatic punch, although I assure you, there will be a few tears along the way!” |

EXCLUSIVE: EastEnders to air three episodes per week from January 2014
The BBC has today confirmed that the weekly output of EastEnders episodes has been reduced from four to three, with the fourth episode to be dropped in January 2014. The changes will see episodes air on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday – scrapping the Friday instalment. Digital Spy have reported that EastEnders’ new executive producer I’ve Got Class played a fundamental role in the schedule changes. An EastEnders spokesperson said of the changes: “Reducing the weekly episode count shall benefit the show on immensely, our new producer is keen to spend the new openings within our budget on more on-location shoots. Here at EastEnders, we are determined to reclaim the shows former glory and having a bigger budget to play with means that we can really push the boat out more.” Members of social media have reacted positively to the news, with many agreeing that the decrease in episodes will mark a positive change in the quality of the broadcasts. Rumours on Twitter also suggest that 'departures are expected over the coming months to facilitate the behind the scenes changes'. |

Welcome back.
I think three episodes is great, much better quality rather than quantity. I have just finished my fanfic for 2013. Good Luck |

Lorraine Wicks, Mandy Salter to return to EastEnders
EastEnders’ new executive producer has confirmed that Lorraine Wicks (Jacqueline Leonard) and Mandy Salter (Nicola Stapleton) will be returning to Albert Square in the coming months. The news follows the confirmation that Lorraine’s on-screen son Joe (Paul Nicholls) will also be returning to the soap in the winter period. Jacqueline Leonard previously appeared in the soap for one year between 1996 and 1997, departing at the same time as fellow returnee Paul Nicholls. The duos respective characters – Lorraine and Joe – will return to the Square in December, we can confirm. Lorraine’s return storyline is yet to be revealed, although we believe that she will act as a key player in Joe’s reunion with his father David. Nicola Stapleton left the soap last year, having played the role of Mandy Salter for nine months between August 2011 and May 2012. She had previously portrayed the character for a two year stint in the early nineties, appearing frequently between 1992 and 1994. The character enjoyed an unlikely relationship with Ian Beale during her most recent return, although she left the soap having called off her engagement to the businessman. Digital Spy can confirm that a few departures will be announced in the coming days, although the shows cast will remain stable from then onwards. |

Four characters to depart EastEnders
Despite holding the job of executive producer for only a few days, it has become apparent that new producer I've Got Class has immediate plans to shake up the show - having decided to bring three former characters back into the show. However, as previously believed, the new additions to the cast will be balanced out by some departures; which the BBC have today announced. The longest-serving character to be axed by the new producer is Tamwar Masood, having appeared in the soap for six years. Actor Himesh Patel released a statement following the announcement, in which he confirms that he is ‘saddened’ by the decision to write the character of Tamwar out but also praising the cast and crew for providing him with ‘laughter, tears and wonderful memories’ throughout his time on the show. On-screen couple Fatboy (Ricky Norwood) and Poppy Meadow (Rachel Bright) are also being written out of the show. Fatboy first appeared in online miniseries E20 before he was upgraded to the regular cast in 2010. Poppy was introduced in ‘filler scenes’ during the controversial baby swap storyline in 2011, although she did not appear as a regular character in the show until the summer of 2012. The final character to have been axed from the show is Sam James, as played by Cornell S. John, despite the fact that he has only been on screens for a little over three months. Speaking of her decision to axe the character, producer I’ve Got Class said: ‘’Viewers have just not clicked with the character at all, the storyline in which he was reunited with Ava was panned by viewers as they were still familiarising themselves with the characters of Ava and Dexter when Sam was thrown into the mix – it was too much too soon, maybe if Sam had been introduced later on the character would have been successful. However, my job as producer is not to concentrate on phrases like ‘maybe’ and ‘what if’, my job is to reinvigorate the public’s interest in the show. |

Monday 2nd September 2013
Kirsty bravely makes the decision to face her past head-on, as Lauren asks her to open up to her about her own personal struggles with addiction. Kirsty explains that in order for Lauren to fully understand the extent of her addiction, she will have to take her to the estate on which she grew up. Having finally found someone that she can be herself around, Lauren tells her stepmother that all she wants is the knowledge that there is someone out there who understands what she faces on a daily basis. Realising that facing her past in order to help Lauren could finally gain her recognition as a member of the Branning family, Kirsty takes the evening off work in order to visit the estate on which she experienced the darkest period of her life. As the anniversary of his mother’s death approaches, Michael makes it clear to Kat that he plans on leaving Albert Square on that day, remarking how it seems fitting that he will depart Walford on the most significant day in his life. Kat is confused, telling Michael that she is extremely aware that ‘walking away’ is not in his nature. However, Michael soon explains that, although he has abided by the law and attempted to be civil with Janine in regards to who has custody of Scarlett, he is aware of the fact that if he wants full custody of his daughter: he’ll have to gain custody on his own terms. Outside of Albert Square, Kirsty and Lauren arrive on the estate where Kirsty grew up. With the bleak weather and the night sky adding to the unsettling experience, Lauren is quick to notice that Kirsty is tackling the situation with obvious caution. An inquisitive Lauren asks Kirsty if any of her family are still living on the estate, to which Kirsty replies that she does not keep in touch with her family because her upbringing has haunted her with too many bad memories. Having walked for a while, the women soon reach an alleyway where Kirsty stops, gathering her memories in her head. She then proceeds to tell Lauren to stay where she is, before walking to the other end of the alleyway and retracing the steps that she made all those years ago – explaining to Lauren as she walks that, every night, she would meet a male friend in this alley and he would provide her with a bag of cocaine, which she would then either use for her own consumption or sell to other users. As Kirsty reaches the starting point of the alleyway, where Lauren is stood, she breaks down in tears. Lauren comforts her stepmother, despite Kirsty’s protests that Lauren should stay away from her. Lauren tells Kirsty that she understands that facing her past is difficult for Kirsty, although Kirsty soon interrupts – explaining to Lauren the real reason that she doesn’t keep in touch with her family is because, one evening, the police received an anonymous tip that a member of Kirsty’s family was dealing cocaine so they came to raid the house. When they found the cocaine in the upstairs bathroom, Kirsty’s brother covered for her and said that it was his: leading to his eventual imprisonment. Also today, the youngsters of Albert Square return to school following the holidays. Bianca gets into an argument with another parent at the school gates. Alfie asks Peter to cover Kirsty’s shift, and is impressed when Peter turns out to be a hit with the regulars. |

Great episode IGC.
I love that you've gone into Kirsty's past, I wasn't expecting it to be that dark! I think it'll be really interesting to see if Peter leaves the family business for a job in the pub.
