I have just bought these bad boys from amazon

I have them plugged into my samsung smart tv (fs7000) via the optical cable...

What is better when using them with a ps3 (occasional bluray, Netflix and mp4 file) and youvuew (whatever is broadcast - now tv, BBC HD etc)

To have them plugged into the tv at all times, or unplug and put into the ps3s optical out output?

Will I still get the 7.1 effect if its plugged into the tv and I'm watching a bluray via ps3?

Also, how can I switch from optical out to the headphone jack on the samsung tv without unplugging cab,es etc?
