I have a Humax 9150T and about 2 weeks ago a “banner” appeared on Film4 Channel 15 stating: - “Film4 is moving. If you can see this on channel 15, please retune your Freeview equipment to ensure you continue to receive this channel.”
At this point Film4 was still transmitting on channel 15 but with this “banner” at the top of the screen, so I retuned the Humax, Film4 is now on channel 791, (channel 15 does nothing but stay on the channel it is already on, i.e. if on BBC1 and I select channel 15, it just stays on BBC1), but the “banner” is still there either watching live or recording and watching later!
Is there a way to remove this “banner” and if so how?

My TV mag, TV Choice, still shows Film4 as channel 15.

Transmitter is Winter Hill.

Thanks.

The banner is on the original transmission so no getting rid of it.

I haven't retuned my 9150 yet but both my Fox-T2 and TV picked up the new Film 4 on channel 15 (which is basically the same as 791 but minus the banner!)

When you retuned did you delete all the channels first? I usually go into Edit Channels and delete everything from the tuning memory before doing a retune. That way it hopefully avoids any screw-ups updating what is already there.

Sounds like the retune didn't fully update channel 15 first time round so perhaps try deleting everything then retuning again.

Might have a go with my 9150 tonight and see what happens. Don't use it very much now so haven't bothered so far.

Film4 is on Mux 55, I retuned that mux, then deleted what I did not want, then saved the rest.

Will try a complete retune and see if that removes it. Thanks

I have a 9150 and did a rescan and had no problems. (However I am in the Waltham area).

I think you have made a mistake in your rescanning. Film4 is moving to the D3&4 mux, which for Winter Hill appears to be on channel 59.

Either do a complete rescan, or follow Big-les's manual retune (for example see http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...08&postcount=6 ).

Alternatively, delete Film4 and just scan channel 59. The Film4 that should appear on 15 shouldn't have the banner.

Nail, head, hit, I fancy

If the OP deleted Film 4 on channel 15 then just rescanned the mux it was on then that would explain it. What was on 15 is now on 791. All it's done is change channel number.

As you say Film 4 on channel 15 is now on a different mux which wasn't scanned so didn't get put back.

Way out of date instructions, OP please see HERE for the latest version.

If you are running the latest version of the software, v26, then you could try an Automatic Search as this will delete all old channels as part of the process. If, after the Automatic Search, you have channels starting at channel number 800 then you will have to do a Manual Search following my instructions.

That was the problem on here Phil, various versions were scattered all over the place. Over on the other forum the latest version is in the 9xx0 FAQ section so it's easy to link to.

After chrisjr post I deleted and retuned everything last night, so I now have Film4 on 15 without the banner, but I also have it on 791 with the banner, so figure that one?

When I first rescanned only channel 55, I lost 15 altogether as Film4 moved to 791 but had the banner.

.Sorry to disappoint you all, but Film4 is on Channel 55 on my machine, I have just retuned that channel only @10-10 a.m. and Film4 is there on 15 & 791.

Thanks for the replies.

At the moment there are two instances of Film4 being transmitted, the one being phased out (old channel 15 with the banner) and the new one without the banner. After a full retune the new Film4 is put on channel 15, the old one has to go somewhere so has obviously been allocated channel 791. In time and after a future retune film4 on 791 will disappear.

In your case the old Film4 (with banner) is on the multiplex that is carried on UHF channel 55 but the new one is on a different multiplex, that is why you lost Film4 from Freeview channel 15 when you rescanned only UHF channel 55. If you follow my instructions every Freeview channel will be in the correct place and nobody will be disappointed.

Last night re chrisjr suggestion in post #2 I went into edit channels and deleted everything, I then rescanned manually all the channels on 49, 50, 55, 58 and 59, (the channels for my area), Film4 appeared on channel, (mux), 55, I actually followed your instructions but by default.
However I have just tried scanning channel 59 only, result is Film4 is showing in my lists as being on mux 55 and 59

So to recap, a couple of weeks ago after the banner came on 15 I rescanned that channel only and got as my OP.
Last night after posting I did as chrijr suggested and got as per my post #9.
After the following posts I rescanned 55 and Film4 was showing, I then scanned 59 and Film4 is also showing there.
I have Film4 on 791 with the banner and on 15 without the banner, showing on muxes 55 & 59.

In your case the two instances of Film4 being transmitted at the moment are being carried on UHF channels (multiplexes) 55 and 59, 55 carrying the one being phased out (with the banner on 791 after the retune) and 59 being the new Film4 on 15. Basically Film4 is in the process of being moved onto another multiplex, UHF channels 55 to 59 in your case. I am informed by another member that this is so the transmitters around the country that only transmit Freeview Light (only three multiplexes) will in the future carry Film4.

This is what would be expected on all main transmitters.
I suspect 791 will go blank or will be a static caption when Film4+1 starts next week.

Not another bl00dy retune! I really feel sorry for the thousands of people around who are frightened to retune for fear of things going wrong, and they do if multiple transmitters are received.

I doubt a retune will be required. Film 4 +1 and the "copy" Film 4 (with banner) are on the same mux. Film 4 +1 is already on the EPG on LCN 45.

I would bet good money that Film 4 +1 will use the audio and video streams currently in use by Film 4 on LCN 791. So on the day +1 kicks off they just repoint the two LCNs. Much as happens daily with time sharing channels. After all you don't have to retune every day at 7PM when BBC3/4 take over from CBBC/CBEEBIES do you?

Thanks, I hadn't noticed Film4+1 was already there, I'll have to give the planners a little more credit than I have in the past.

According to my TV dongle the audio & video pids for Film4+1 are different to the defunct Film4.
There are other changes, see the change log, so it is likely a rescan is required.

Have to have a play this evening.

Though I expect the TV may have worked it out for itself. It seems quite capable of adding and removing channels that come and go on muxes all by itself. Not even sure I did a retune when Film 4 changed mux to be honest.

But neither of my Humax PVRs seem to be able to do the same and have to be manually helped to add/remove channels as appropriate. So will be interesting to see if they pick up Film 4+1 unaided or not.

Film4+1 is working on my 9200 and channel 791 is showing a retune message similar to 'if you can see this on channel 15 then you need to retune'. No retune for me other than the one last week to put the new Film4 onto channel 15 and the old one to channel 791.

Ditto my Fox T2 and 9150. No intervention required by me either so looks like no retune required after all.

Seems to me that if you already had the Film4+1 placeholder from a previous scan the Humax sorted itself out.

I was probably getting myself confused because of the mention of the BBC3/4 Cb* switchover. There the video/audio pids are the same - indeed with a TV dongle you can manually set a channel to watch CBeebies/BBC4 as one continuous channel. Old Film4 and Film4+1 were not like this.

However, the other changes listed in the changelog might require a rescan. Although, my Humax coped with the change in LCN of the Food Network. Unfortunately it put channel 41 between channels 46 & 55 - so I had to rescan to put it where I wanted it. (Yes I know about favourites, and No I don't use them very often).

Well there's True Entertainment on 61 with re-runs of Little House on the Prairie, Waltons, Roots and loads of gloopy US TV movies.

To my mind, Freeview has ca 75% junk TV channels.
