Could be worse - they could have called it 5G.

Have you tried resetting network settings on the iPhone?
A quick update as the problem has been resolved by Three and this information could be useful for anothers having the same issue.

The solution is to delete any profiles under settings. Once deleted restart the phone. Now the phone works under AT&T so call 4G.

I think the issue is down to certain profiles and not all profile will cause the issue.

A big shout to Three social media support team which was my first contact with the problem and they liaised with their technical support team to solve the problem. This was all communicated via emails so it took a few days to resolve.

I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago on AT&T and data speed were poor, he worst performance I'd had on our whole California trip, I hunk it's a combination of 3 things,
- response is always slow as the data is routed back to the uk (I never had a ping below 450 on my 2 week trip)
- Network congestion in Vegas must be high
- being roaming traffic im sure in busy times it is treated as priority Z by the host network

That's said I did find having the net while mobile very useful, I used around 900mb according to my phone and if at had been used in my partners EE phone I think it would have cost me around £1600 so I can't complain really as I only pay my £20 per month sim only deal...
It is very good. I'm only on PAYG, just to use Three Feel at Home for this trip, I think I could have lived with their £10 500mb data add on but went for the £15 unlimited instead. It's brilliant you are connected all the time whilst out and about just like at home and for so little cost.

I have done some speedtest, on a bad day I was getting 1Mbps on AT&T 3G but on a good day it was 3Mbps. The signals aren't the strongest either as when inside a mall, the phone will lose signal.

Hi guys. Wonder if you can help me. I'm going to the USA and want to get a three PAYG +3 3GB mobile broadband Sim for my iPad. I read somewhere that you can use your PAYG data but that you have to convert it to an add on. Does anyone know how I do this? Or has anyone managed to get their PAYG Mobile Broadband sim working abroad without going through this process. Answers gratefully received.

The 3GB is already an add on. So you don't need to do anything.

Thanks jabba! It was this line here from the three website that caused the confusion:
"If you're on Pay As You Go, all you need to do is convert your credit into an Add-on. You can then use the allowance in any Feel At Home destination."

Yeh, that's talking about pay as you go for a mobile phone.

So say you top up £15, it won't work on feel at home. But if you convert it into an add on with a set allowance (E.g 300 Mins, 5000 texts, unlimited data for £15) then it will work.

Your 3GB is not cash credit, it is already an add on. So therefore you're all set.

The 150Mb data you get on 3 PAYG for free at each topup can be used without buying an explicit add on in Feel at Home countries.

Been using free roaming in New York since Tuesday morning.

So far calls and texts have been fine but data has been REALLY bad, however I think that is more to do with AT&T and T-Mobile 3G here being bad anyway.

On using an EE SIM on a roaming plan I get the same low speeds as on Three.

But hey... it's free and ok for email, social media etc..

Tomorrow I am heading to Los Angeles for 5 days with a day in San Francisco so will test in these locations too

Nice one! Good to know that EE is no better as I sometimes have an EE sim in the iPad, but have switched back to having a 3 sim ready for my trip to the states at the end of this month . I'm heading to LA and San Fran myself, so would be really interested to know your network experience there, and whether one network seems better than another.

Least we are definitely getting those anyway as they are EU countries so if Three doesn't include them in Feel At Home it is only a matter of time anyway. Though I expect Germany and Spain will be added wouldn't hold out hope for Hungary though. Canada or China I think would be good additions.

Can someone in the US try the My3 app on T-Mobile? Does it work for you? Always just says roaming and no account details. Works fine on ATT, (I'm using Android, if that makes a difference)

I had the same experience back in May in the US.

Thanks. I raised it with Three app support, who said they would get back to me, and then nothing.

Vodafone has now launched World Traveller, covering USA, India, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, Ghana, Qatar and South Africa. It's £5 per day to use your texts, minutes and data.

That's fine for a short visit, but if you were on a two week holiday that could still be rather pricey compared to getting a local SIM (or of course, for places like the USA or Australia, using Three).

It's a step in the right direction though.

Good move from Vodafone. Certainly a step in the right direction as you say.
A tad expensive but good for heavy users who want to use their phone abroad for a few days without a huge bill.

Quite a clever money spinner if they can get people to sign up to it - they own majority stakes in mobile networks in pretty much all of the countries they have launched it in (if not owned outright), so in reality it probably costs them very little at all compared to what Three must have to pay to use other companies networks. I think the US is the only one that they don't have a stake in these days?

I'm off to Australia (Cairns, Darwin and Perth) and Hong Kong, all Feel At Home places, on the 1st August for 3 weeks, so I'm hoping it will work well out there.

Last time I went to Australia, I used an Amaysim MVNO on the Optus network and their coverage was great, had 3G everywhere even a few miles out on the barrier reef and up in the rainforest. Only place it was sketchy was on some open roads between Perth and Pinjarra, though it was in the middle of nowhere. Speeds were good enough for Skyping back, though I can use my call allowance this time should it be slower like most of you have reported.

I think Three uses Vodafone and Telstra, both which also look to have excellent coverage, so fingers crossed !

The coverage in Hong Kong is excellent. Was getting really fast 3G speeds when I was last there.

I was thinking that maybe at least in the EU we would be able to use all networks for roaming and maybe that's why they didn't show any networks. But with Jabba's link I noticed they added O2 Germany to the list of roaming partners.
