I'm heading to Donegal now. Will report back.

Their Twitter feed said "watch this space" the other day.

Launches officially end of the month
Currently in trial stage for ALL customers

You heard it here first
I got told last night and confirmed this morning by someone who works in telesales. Also Europe plan/more countries being worked on for 2014”

3 like home was done before in 2010 and they scrapped it. However I notice calling abroad from the UK on 3 pay as you go is more expensive than O2 Unlimited/International sim, there are also virtual networks that allow local rates across Europe. And it still works out cheaper to buy a local sim.

No it doesn't?

Thats the whole point of this plan. You don't pay anything extra and you can use all your allowances in any country.

So if you're on contract you can use your mins and texts and unlimited data for free in any of the countries. If you're on pay as you go the standard rates are 3p a min, 2p a text and 1p a mb. Or you can buy a bolt on which gives you better value...

Three website has updated-

http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Phones/Feel_At_Home

More detail + T&C-

http://support.three.co.uk/SRVS/CGI-...se=EXT(EM11925)

Seems like i was on the money with this one

One thing to note is that the Three website has this written at the bottom-

This is what i've heard with more European countries being added in H1 2014. But like i've posted before, it's not confirmed and all could change.

Also i was slightly wrong about the 3 months period. I believe this means you have to use it in the UK for at least 3 months in a 12 month period? At least thats what i think it means?

Am I right in saying though that I should be fine using this in Italy from mid November till early January? As that is when I will be in Rome. I had been intending to get a local sim but this seems like the best option if it will work properly for me.

Doesn't it mean you need to use it at least once every three months in the UK?

Yeh that should be fine. Local calls (20p) and texts (7p) are at standard rate though. But calls and texts to UK numbers is free. As is data roaming and receiving calls/texts.

I guess yeh. It's a bit unclear tbh. I have no idea how they implement it or if they contact you first or something

Fair enough don't mind paying those sort of prices. I just didn't want to run up a massive data bill. Pity that tethering isn't allowed I going have sort of internet access another way.

Is the 10GB rolling mobile broadband contract use able in Mifi?

Should be. It's available to mobile broadband customers as well so should be able to use that 10GB allowance there no issue at all.

Aha, no worries.

I think it's a step in the right direction from Three. It makes me wonder if other networks will follow suit any time soon or whether it'll be something they ignore until they're forced to implement something.

It will defiantly benefit three, should bring a lot of new customers in once the word spreads.

In my opinion I think the larger operators will milk the remainder of profit they can from roaming.
I think they yet to realise how fast Three is becoming an even bigger player in the market.

Three seem to be a lot less interested in their pockets and more about a good deal for the consumer at the moment. But I suppose they have to have that attitude if they want to gain customers at the rate they are.

And yet their operating profit continues to grow year on year...

Well they're definitely doing something right with their market leading propositions.

What you think MBNL was for. Sharing the costs of upgrades and mast maintenance that surely has cut down cost or will over a period of time. Plus they have no 2G network to run at same time and the 2G roaming is becoming less and less.

Confirm Three Like Home (UK) working in Ireland.

Confirm NOT working as readily as before (you have to click on a link received by SMS to state that you're now in a "Feel At Home" country). It's a tad fiddly.

Confirm tethering not working.

Not sure, but it appears 3-3 calls still coming out of allowance and not out of main minutes (unlike Three Ireland where 3-3 minutes do not apply outside the 26 counties, making their offering Three Slightly Like Home).
