Confirm Three Like Home (UK) working in Ireland.

Confirm NOT working as readily as before (you have to click on a link received by SMS to state that you're now in a "Feel At Home" country). It's a tad fiddly.

Confirm tethering not working.

Not sure, but it appears 3-3 calls still coming out of allowance and not out of main minutes (unlike Three Ireland where 3-3 minutes do not apply outside the 26 counties, making their offering Three Slightly Like Home).
Yeh, 3 to 3 minutes carry over.

Sorry, i forgot to mention that. Basically all allowances work abroad.

Nope.

Just use your data allowance though if you have one. Or buy a data pack for the UK before you leave for abroad.

Interesting I didn't even know they could do that do they simply block the service?. Very rare that I would ever use Skype anyway I don't find it that useful.

They are referring to the old 'Skype on 3' service that used a separate downloadable app to dial a number and then route the call

Remember the Skypephone S2 etc....

Using the normal Skype app should work fine

Ah that makes a lot more sense I was puzzled for a minute there thinking I know some countries block things like Skype but I know those don't thanks for clarifying.

You weren't talking about the free Skype on Three promotion?

Was just wondering if Skype would work on Android or iOS in those countries.

Yeh, normal skype app will work fine.

As mentioned above Three used to do free skype (which worked without a data allowance). Still some legacy customers who still use free skype in the UK without a data allowance. This won't work abroad at all.

But standard skype that uses data will.

Little update from Italy...

ALL calls from Italy to ALL UK numbers are NOT coming out of usual minutes but, out of 3-3 minutes instead. Fine by me

Don't recall noticing the same phenomenon when calling from Ireland, but definitely happening here in Italy.

Wonder what would happen if I dialled an international number?

I get the following:

300 minutes
300 3-3 mins
And
5000 3-3 mins

All calls to UK landlines and any network UK mobiles are coming out of my 300 3-3 minutes while here in Italy.

(my Irish 3 SIM continues to work correctly in that all calls to Irish landlines and mobiles come out of my minutes and 3-3 minutes do not apply while outside the State).

Just got back from Italy, can report that my credit was cleared out completely by Three charging 10p/MB for data - all on or after 28th August.

Happened on 1st and then again on the 2nd top up. £20 for about 150 MB of data and say £5 calls.

Sent a detailed message to Three about 6 hours ago asking for an explanation, so far not even an automated reply.

Maybe someone here can explain what is going on, and point me to the Three UK page that explains the "Internet Roaming Band 1 EU - £5.50 = 55 MB" I am seeing in the 3 app.

Did you buy an add on for roaming?
According to the site a Euro Internet pass in £5 per day.

The Euro internet pass appears to be only available for SIM contract customers, not pay as you go.

Well, "Feel Like Home" wasn't officially relaunched on the 28/08 -so, what did you expect to pay? 10p a meg abroad is reasonable.

On the other hand, if you had received the SMS advising that you could use your bundle in a 3 country -did you?

Off to Denmark tomorrow. Will I get a text on landing to confirm that i can use my bundle?

3 website hasn't been updated to confirm, and I'll do anything to avoid the living hell that is peaking to 3 customer services

Do you use Twitter as @ThreeUKSupport & @ThreeUK are usually pretty good at answering questions.

He didn't have a bundle, that's why he was charged standard rate

I only started roaming on 1st Sept when the scheme was well & truly live. In Italy so supposed to be Like Home.
3 states 'you do not need to do anything' (apart from enable roaming).
My wife (on a 3 contract) happily used her UK allowance over same dates. Very satisfactory. No text from 3 arrived or needed on her phone.

However, my 321 plan 10p figure comes from this page I think:

http://support.three.co.uk/SRVS/CGI-...T%28EM11925%29

If you run out of your allowances.
If you go over your allowances, you’ll be charged at roaming rates that are lower than normal. These rates are:

20p per minute to make calls
7p per text
10p per MB.

So, the confusion is coming from this: On the 321 plan, you don't need an 'allowance' for data. It is simply 1p/MB.
Everywhere on the Three website it emphasises that the rate should be exactly as at home and applied to all plans.

Still no response from 3... I will probably go the Twitter as suggested.

It says inclusive allowances. You were told the same thing on MSE. In fact you were told the same thing numerous times by more than one member

So, what's the problem? If he didn't have a bundle and if he was charged standard rate as per Feel Like home, then it should have been 1p an Mb.

As he was charged 10p and in the absence of the welcoming SMS, is there a reason to complain?
