In my experience, they seem to have stopped adhering to this, in the wake of Feel At Home. Certainly for Irish people living in Belfast and travelling frequently to Dublin, a restriction on roaming when there is no charge for same on Three Ireland/O2.ie makes little sense.

I know of three of my converts who requested and had roaming enabled 2/3 days after signing up to a new contract. One of those then travelled to Spain where the SIM roamed without issue.

I'm off to the USA in march so this is great news for me.

Thanks. I'm due to go to Canada at some point next year and it would be useful if this was in Canada then but if not I'll just get the Skype app!

Jabbamk1, just thought I would thank you for all the updates you provide. I know some people have been going you a bit grief recently but some of us do appreciate it.

Cheers. I appreciate that.

As a consumer myself I also like to know what new things networks are doing to improve.

Spain is not a Three Like Home country. So you might be able to roam, sure, but at expensive rates like any other network.

Having been to Canada this summer it is incredibly expensive for mobiles - even for the locals! No true PAYG for one (prepaid is not the same!) The Canadian government has even started looking into things.

Use Skype whenever possible.

Did you read my post? My point was that they are not insisting on the two months grace period before roaming is enabled, it would appear, based on the immediate experience of three recent converts of mine.

I am well aware that Spain is not a Three Like Home country, it was simply to illustrate that they turned on full roaming on, on request and without quibble and not partial roaming.

Practically all contracts will turn on full roaming instantly.
If they didn't, no one who travels a lot would ever change network.
The real question is with Three's unique roaming rates.
So do we know whether Three Like Home rates are available in the 7 countries within 2 months of a new contract?

The restriction has only ever been on SIM only plans. Were they on a SIM only plan?

Yes - I took out a Three SIM only contract at the end of the summer. Shortly thereafter, the At Home roaming came into effect.
At that point my account was not enabled for roaming, but when I rang up, it was immediately enabled after only being in the contract about 3 weeks.

All 3 who signed up in the advent and wake of the revitalised Three Like Home took out SIM-only plans. All had roaming enabled on request within 48 hours.

Me too. I'm a club DJ on The One Plan and spend four months a year in Zante, Greece.

Hopefully their app will work abroad on WiFi to call and text over I.P.

Three insisted on 60 days before they would activate roaming for me, however if I ported a number over, they would activate immediately.

I ported my number, and they activated roaming. Worked well whilst in Copenhagen last month. Hope the US rumour is true.

If they won't add roaming, probably easier to add £15 to a PAYG SIM if going to a feel at home country.

So, a quick change.

Indonesia, Singapore, Macau & USA will join feel at home on December 3rd.

Really great news.
