Freetime and Freeview Remote Controls
Don't know whether anyone can help ......
![]() I have a new Humax Freetime Freesat box and the new Humax Youview box. I have tried using all RC channels on the Freetime box - but all of them still power on and off the Freeview box. I'd understood reading previous threads that the reporgramming of the Freetime would make the RC truly independent. Is there a solution anyone can offer? Thanks, Jeff |

It sounds like you're not correctly changing the remote setting - I presume you've downloaded the instructions for doing so? (as it's not mentioned in the instruction books).

Thanks - You gave me confidence and I retried and now it seems to work with channel 2.
Thanks Jeff |

I have a new Youview Box as well as my Freesat. Both are Humax and it is a pest when trying to change/turn on one with the RC and the other comes on as well. Any links to how to change one of them??

Thanks for that.
Just tried that and it kept coming back with action failed. However I kept at it by rebooting a couple of times and eventually it gave me the option to change and it has worked. |

Thanks for the help here ...
I sent back the Freesat box. Some things are just niggles ... others clearly faults. Upgraded to latest firmware. Found the giu totally too quirky compared to the Youview box. But it also seemed to be unreliable on recording; sometimes wouldn't play ball on the HDMI input and at other times snatched the HDMI when dozing but initiating a record. It made me realise how good the Youview box is and how much I simply do not need freesat. Youview is a great recording box ie just used for recording. The Youview part means you can be a bit more careless on recording. First few days without £90 monthly Sky. Just using the box as the HD viewer now. £1000 per year was a lot to pay .... Thanks again. |

Other people's PVR's work correctly, and only switch during PLAYBACK ![]() Presumably the YouView box is 'better' because it's a YouView box manufactured by Humax, as opposed to a Humax box. |

Humax have never seemed to understand how sockets are supposed to work?, even their SCART sockets go active during timed recording, including switching pin 8 high to force the TV to SCART.

Like a few people here I have a free YouView box, ( In fact two .... ) I hadn't realised how good the YouView box was until I saw the FreeTime/Sat one.At the moment I'm gauging how we will do Sky-less. I think we will be fine.
