Yes, please refer to the threads on the main Youview forum. Basically the pay channels currently available with channel Boosts will soon be available on their own channel numbers as well as the Talktalk player. Currently I can only get them through the player but the should be available to everyone on the main Youview EPG by the middle of next month.

Some have even able to get them already but this is only a trial.

All Youview services will use the same channel numbers although of course not all carry the same channels. So Sky One, Gold etc, will have the same EPG no. on all services that carry them.

TalkTalk is currently running a trial, whereby the lucky few (of whom I am one) have the Internet channels in the main epg already. I can report that it is a significant improvement. I have hidden the mass of Connect TV channels that YouView cannot access anyway, and the so-called Adult channels, so that Sky One etc are now on the epg screen that follows BBC1HD. The trial is due to end very soon and the changes will be run out to all subscribers next month.

As I mentioned, it is a big improvement. The Entertainment Boost had a tagged on feeling to it when it was part of the TalkTalk Player. As part of the main epg, though, it feels right. These channels also load much quicker than they ever did in the Player, and they seem to have beefed up the broadband as well to deliver picture and sound quality that is pretty well indistinguishable from the better broadcast channels. Note that the minimum download speed has risen to 5Mbps (it used to be 4). My router used to deliver a consistent 10-11Mbps, but since I got the new channels, it is 12-13.

I am given to understand that as a triallist you should not be talking about this in public?

It has been mentioned before and I wasn't sworn to silence.

Oh well that's great news plus I got 13-16 Mbps and is it just boosts channels in epg ?

The boosts are in the epg. The on-demand stuff, like Love Film and Digital Theatre, plus the free gifts, are still in the TalkTalk Player.

Will this happen as a software upgrade or will it necessitate a change of youview box?

It's a software update.

The internet/streamed channels (IPTV) must now be active to most TalkTalk Plus TV customers who've subscribed for a boost package. See http://www.***********.org/wiki/EPG_of_TalkTalk_YouView for a full list of channels.

If you put a talktalk box on BT infinity broadband, this feature allready works and all the internet channels come up on the EPG. Drama will still not record timed or otherwise and the box is slow to respond to remote commands from startup. These cheap boxes are not a patch on those from Humax. I just hope the next upgrade sorts these proplems out.

How does that work? You need to be using TalkTalk broadband to get the TalkTalk channels.

Apparently they are identical in spec ,function and features.the only difference being the Humax having a front panel display and larger hard drive.

So much for those people who claim that the Humax is by far the better box. I have the Huawei box and no complaints.

Just because someone owns a Ford and has no complaints does not mean that a Mercedes-Benz is not a far better car. I can't see the logic in your statement.

The logic lies in the previous poster's statement. Underneath the skin, the two boxes are virtually identical, the only differences being the Humax's bigger hard drive and digital readout on the front panel. The Mercedes and Ford have different engines, suspension, brakes etc. They are not identical, or anywhere near it. Watch a TV fed by the Humax and Huawei boxes, but without knowing which is working at any one time, and you would not be able to tell which is which because the performance is identical. This is not true of the Ford and Mercedes.

The two boxes may have the same software spec, but side by side the Humax outshines the Talktalk box. If you plug a BT Humax into a Talktalk broadband it assumes the Talk talk programe guide and extras and if you plug a Talktalk box into BT broadband it assumes the BT programe guide and extras. On initial startup the Humax box is quicker to respond to remote commands, on the Talktalk box you cannot record the Drama channel. The talktalk box and remote look and feel like cheap made down to a price electronics, where as the Humax looks and feels like a proper piece of kit. The good point about the Talktalk boxes is that you can get them on Ebay for about £40 - £70 where as you don't see a Humax for less than £120 on the same site. We use the Humax as the main box and the Talktalk boxes go on the kids TV's.

And that is your justification for comparing them to a Ford and Mercedes respectively?

What i would like to know, is if these updates sort out two things that wind me up:

1) The horrendous lag. It takes at least 5 seconds to respond to anything you press on the remote control

2) Volume levelling. The Freeview channels were at a much different volume to the IPTV channels which were at a different volume to the iPlayers etc
