For me what was embarrassing yesterday was 100,000s of fans taking part in silences as that what was expected of them and thats how theyve been moulded into thinking and believing without even understanding what they are doing.
Yep my work did a 2 min silence yesterday and I carried on as normal. I refuse to be forced into taking part in something which I am firmly against.

Anybody seen Union loving, cat impersonator and all round fruitcake George Galloway' s latest tweets on Friday's game v Ireland?

@georgegalloway: Which team will the green newly tartan bedecked Scottish Nationalists be supporting at Celtic Park on Friday btw? #justaskin

@georgegalloway: NO Celtic fan of Irish descent would EVER have supported Scotland over Ireland in the past. Now, it seems, all of them are. Changed days

@georgegalloway: Celtic fans welcome to support the country which colonised the land of their fathers then "welcomed" us as immigrants like a case of Ebola

Not sure he's right in saying all Celtic fans will support Scotland on Friday. I can imagine a decent percentage of Irish heritage supporting the Republic.

The same George Galloway who stood on a platform against independence alongside the Tories.

Yep, he seems rather confused. He bizarrely campaigned against Scottish independence when most people would have expected him to be in favour of it.

From what I gather they seem to be mostly Scottish but think they are Irish(?), hate the British army but live and work in Britain paying taxes to fund the British army and will be supporting Ireland on Friday cheering on two Scottish players who also think they are Irish. Very complicated sense of identity.

I just don't see how the minutes silence can't be observed or if you hate it so much go outside for that minute which you know is coming.
Don't talk nonsense.

Some Celtic supporters couldn't give a flying big 1 about ireland

He was right though and the better together campaign won easily. Just because someone agrees with you on one thing doesn't mean they don't disagree with you on 1000 others.

I know plenty of Celtic supporters, myself including who don't care about Ireland. Why would I care about a country that I have zero connection with or a particular fondness of?

There would be plenty of Celtic fans though who grew up with a sense of Irish heritage. Many of Glasgow's Catholics would be of Irish ancestry, often first or second generation.

These days there are probably lots of Celtic fans who identify solely with Scotland and it's culture like yourself, but there still seems to be a decent amount of "Glasgow Irish" judging by the number of tricolours inside Celtic Park.

Combining the 2 main threads on the subject on FF and ZM they have amassed just under 600k views and over 6100 posts.

In terms of views and posts it is the biggest in FF history. It has almost 33% more posts than the thread in 2nd place.

If we are talking about teams being obsessed with others, then the hearts fans take the biscuit.

1337 pages, 68k posts. 4.8 million views, all on the subject of Rangers, even the thread on their own teams administration came way way WAY behind with 50 pages.

Teams and their fans will always be obsessed with their rivals, it's the nature of the game in Scotland and plenty of other countries.

The likes of The Rangers will always generate plenty of interest with fans and media alike. Aberdeen for example wiped out almost £15 million of debt on Wednesday and now no longer have any crippling interest payments to make yet on the same day Radio Scotland chose to ignore this but spent nearly 20 minutes discussing The Rangers latest emergency loan.

As TB said yesterday. It's armageddon.

That's not the craziest thing on kickback, which is the utter venom that some there talk about Steven Pressley, because he celebrated scoring against us in 2007. (I have no possible explanation)

On the Celtic site I post on loads of folk didn't want us to sign Craig Gordon.

Not because of his injury history but because he once came up for a late corner against us. He has won them over now though.

How do we feel about tonight I hope more than expect.

I feel it will be a draw as it's many years since we have won a big game when it really matters

I think the Irish team would be very disappointed to lose it given the start they've made and the huge support they'll have tonight. Maybe a score draw is the most likely outcome. I do think there is a fair amount of pressure on Scotland and Strachan tonight. They were nervy against Georgia and the stakes are much higher this evening. It will be interesting to see how they handle it.

The booing of McGeady will spur him on and Ireland to win 2-1.

I want it to be a draw though.

What a week it has been for them.

EC says no investigation into our land deals, they get another crisis loan from Ashley, the Louden gets tanned, the arrests made this morning about Whyte's takeover and now this!

The t-shirt must have been on sale for a while if it was 20% off.

Some amount of permarage on show today.
