2nil Poland were always likely to win anyway.

Turns up the heat I feel for tonight as a draw is of little use.

Andrea from the X factor appears to be goal for georgia

Wow the view at Celtic is actually decent if you are not stuck in the away corner. Who knew?

Would not have been very hard for them to find someone with a glasgow address to order tickets

The booing of McGeady will spur him on and Ireland to win 2-1.

I want it to be a draw though.
And that is why I should never bet!

How do we feel about tonight I hope more than expect.

I feel it will be a draw as it's many years since we have won a big game when it really matters
Private Fraser will not be making an appearance tonight.

Those not in the away corner??

Yes they will and a draw with Ireland and poland would do nicely.

A deserved win for Scotland. We showed that wee bit of quality that ROI did not.

Even I am beginning to wonder I am normally one of the most negative Scotland fans on here

Credit where credit is due the first win against someone decent where it matters in a very long time

If the SFA had any sense - they'll not return to Hampden.

Though Scotland seem to have the same problems with consistency as Ireland. Excellent tonight but very poor in the first half against Germany and nervy and edgy against Georgia. I imagine there will be a lot of twists and turns in this group yet.

Yes next set of games is half way through .

I guessing you feel Ireland need to beat poland . Poland will come for a point and Scotland and Germany will both win.

If you do win it could be 10 points for 4 teams at half way

If you draw I feel Scotland could probably get away with a draw in Dublin .

Don't think anything will be decided till the final day

Yes, it's a crazily competitive group and someone is going to be unlucky and miss out on the third placed play off spot.

It's obvious Ireland are going to have to beat either Poland or Scotland at home. They simply cannot afford to draw both games.

At this stage, I haven't a clue what way the table will look going into the final round of games next October.

Ireland never really recovered from the Trapatoni era. Scotland deserved a win tonight. Some fine players on the Scottish team. In truth, you were playing a poor Irish team tonight.

I wouldn't quite go that far. That would suggest there was an obvious gulf in class between the two teams, when in fact Scotland won with a set piece goal and fairly late in the game.

I think the loss of McCarthy and Whelan hurt the Irish team as they were overrun a bit in midfield. Scotland are clearly a very decent team and with a bit of skill and quality about them.

Incidentally the stats tend to back up that it wasn't a particularly one sided game. Scotland had 56% possession (which you would expect) but had 11 shots on goal to Ireland's 10 and Ireland had 3 shots on target to Scotland's 2, plus they had 8 corners to Scotland's 3.....hardly a rampant and totally dominant Scottish performance.

There was a noticeable brawl, presumably between Irish & Scots, in the corner between the Jock Stein stand and the South stand in the second half.

Maybe there was little they could do about it but there were loads of folk who were clearly pished out their skulls there too.

A lively atmosphere, to be sure.

I'm reading on one of the Scottish fan forums that the punch up was actually between drunken home supporters.

Great result - we should start believing that we can nullify that Irish team away from home and perhaps get all 3 points as they are bang average compared to the Poles or Germans.

Don't get me wrong I think Ireland came for a draw tonight but we kept on believing and under wee Gordy our new found patience has been rewarded. We are not good enough to kill teams when on top, but when you consider the pressure was all on us tonight it was a fairly comfortable night ... to say we are in the most competitive of groups is understating it, this is the group to watch and if it wasn't before it is now truly at the stage of dog eat dog ... blink and you are gone.

Bring it on - we will have 3 points to add to our total in the next game ...

Well, that's certainly possible. There were a fair few people who could hardly stand there.

I don't think Ireland were firing on all cylinders tonight. It was a flat and lifeless performance : they played far, far better against Germany in the second half.

Scotland may have been a tiny bit flattered as a result. They're a very good passing side but when you come up against a team that are not gelling, it can make you look a better team than you actually are (you would think too that Ireland will ask Scotland many more questions in Dublin than were asked tonight). Still it's going to be a fascinating group
and every game between the top 4 from now on should be intriguing.
