I see Poland only drew 2-2 at home against Switzerland tonight too even though I believe they had a full house and everyone was fired up for the game. Looks like this Group D could have many twists and turns yet......they're probably isn't that much between the three sides.

The better team by far won. On another note, the England travelling support handed the Tartan Army their arses tonight.

I hadn't seen him until he moved to Hull but that Robertson looks a good player.

The atmosphere in the Scotland end wasn't that bad, given the huge gulf in class between the teams

Well to say that was schoolboy defending would be unfair to any children looking in - we were doing OK until the first goal but you can't give gifts like England got tonight.

Not sure why England seemed to be more up for the game than us - I found that strange.

Only positive was the continued partnership of Anya and Robertson who look like they will give most teams trouble ...

PS hopefully Coldplay are looking for their lead singer back because he certainly ain't a football player.

Yes I don't want to see him in the squad at the expense of johnny Russell

That was the England B team that looked a million miles ahead of Scotland. Strachan got almost every decision wrong last night. Why keep practically the same team as the one vs Ireland? Why bother having friendlies or calling up other players? The only change he did make was to bring in a poorer striker in one of the most important positions because 'the boys like being on his team in training'. Did Chris Martin even touch the ball in their half or box?

If he can't get these players up for a game against England then he's in trouble. The wins against Georgia and Ireland were unconvincing. The players looked like they had never even met with some of their passing.

Motivation wasn't the issue its simply about technique. England pressed Scotland very well hunting in packs Scotland's players struggled to keep the ball when put under pressure. When your not pressed as Scotland wasn't v Ireland its a lot easier to receive and pass the ball but the key is when put under pressure as that's when a quality 1st touch and movement becomes paramount.

What Strachan has done with the Scotland side is impressive and its night and day watching his side compared to the jokers that came before him.

Ireland played atrociously against Scotland, resorting to hoofing the ball up the field at every opportunity and then losing possession as a result.

I had an idea we'd see a 1-3 or 1-4 scoreline last night. Scotland are very well organised but average at the moment (as are Ireland).

Scotland are average but I can actually watch Scotland now as the manager is trying to win the game rather than trying not to lose.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Scotland at all. Strachan is doing a great job and Scotland are trying to play passing football at all times, so it's a major improvement on what went before.

Nothing could be worse then Levein or Burley. Strachan has done a good job so far but the test is still to come.

I think we may see an improved Ireland in 2015 too. David McGoldrick and Cyrus Christie made very impressive debuts last night and Robbie Brady seems to be developing into a class player.

Why are celtic randomly cancelling games again

I suspect the game v ROI took a lot out of Scotland. But England are still a better side.

Quote:
“Premiership clubs are permitted to request one fixture postponement at the beginning of the season, and one in January.

Ronny Deila’s side will have played 35 competitive games by the time they’ve faced Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on January 5, and the Celtic manager wants to take the opportunity for his side to have a short mid-season break and training camp before resuming their quest for silverware in the remaining months of the season.”

I don't buy that excuse. You would expect Scotland to be on a real high and full of running after their win in the qualifier.

Me neither.

England are just a much better side than Scotland.

It's not an excuse. Like I said, England are still a better side.

Scott Brown signs a new contract at Celtic taking him up to 2018.

It was like a Premiership side against a League 1 or 2 team. A painful chasm in class.

Hardly surprising given most of our players are middling Championship types themselves - we don't have any superstars of years gone by and the fact that we (greatly) missed Steven Fletcher to link up our play should tell us exactly where we are as a team.

Are there any up and coming Scottish players coming through because I sure as hell don't see much (apart from Ryan Gauld possibly). Maybe we can find some more uncapped English lads with a Scottish grannie ...

I don't want that. Never have and never will. It's place of birth for the player or their parent(s) or nothing for me. F#ck what France and Ireland do, that's taking the piss.

Ryan gauld, johnny Russell and stevie may have to start being I introduced into the team asap before its to late. The problem Scotland have is we don't get the guys into the team quick enough meaning by the time they hit 25 26 they only a have a handful of caps and don't know how to play international football. Its a vicious circle we are in. Hopefully under strachan more youngsters will start playing.
