The SPFL have finally provided details of the League Cup semi-finals.

The Old Firm derby will be on Saturday 31st January at 3pm, while Celtic v The Rangers will be the following day at 1.30pm live on the BBC.
Think you have made a mistake there, Celtic v rangers (the old firm) are playing sunday 1st febuary.
With Dundee utd v Aberdeen being on 31st Jan.

Never heard any other 2 teams in the uk be called "the old firm" other than Rangers and celtic.

No doubt a mistake, and not baiting in any way.

You're quite correct that "The Old Firm" once referred to Celtic v Rangers. Similarly, Aberdeen v Dundee Utd were "The New Firm".

With Rangers no longer existing it seems logical to now refer to Aberdeen v Dundee Utd as "The Old Firm". I suppose if you're bring charitable you could refer to Celtic v The Rangers as "The New Firm" but since they've never played each other I'm not sure the rivalry is big enough yet to warrant a name beyond "Glasgow Derby".

Yes, absolutely baiting, and very poor at that. And I say that although I am very far from liking Rangers nor particularly like Celtic.

But the Old Firm is clearly still Celtic and Rangers, and if Rangers can somehow avoid too much more sheer incompetence and soap opera, it will soon again be the clear biggest fixture in Scottish football.

In my opinion old and new Rangers have deserved all they got. But Scottish foorball overall has been the poorer ( amusing to the rest of us though it has been at times ) for having Rangers away from the top tier.

The Old Firm will return, however Mark chooses to amuse himself.

I do, as do the vast majority of football supporters in Scotland.

Rangers went out of business. End of.

Rangers outclassed Kilmarnock from start to finish. How Kilmarnock are safe in mid table I don't know, the Premiership must be very weak for a team like that to be on 20 points. Boyd scoring was the cherry on the cake for him. I don't know why tickets aren't made a flat £10 to get the crowds up.

It's boring trolling. Rangers are the same team, ask any of the relevant footballing authorities. Only those going to the Dundee Utd vs Aberdeen game give a toss about it.

Funny how fans of The Rangers are happy to accept the word of the footballing authorities when it suits them, but otherwise attack them.

Going to have to accept it - Celtic will never be able to reach Hearts' level in the worlds most competitive league.

Very good win for Rangers, Rangers' third win against a Premiership team this season, so there is some good stuff in amongst all the keech.

didn't see much of the rangers killie cup tie, but watch celtic take on hearts .....

NOT a sending off though for gomis, and guidetti should have been booked for his blatant die for that non existent penalty ..... and might have been sent off for his second too!

Be interesting to see what the next round of the scottish cup provides.

Only have a dozen top flight teams left which isnt that good the way the draw works out.

As a United fan the only one I don't want is celtic happily take on the rest, Rangers again would be fine or another dundee Derby.

I suspect the sponsors would prefer the few big teams left kept apart.

Wish this round of the Scottish cup was returned to after xmas in January to where it belongs as for some teams being out both cups before Xmas is bad news.

I don't like how the Scottish cup has the league cup scenario of months between rounds now

Willie Collum should have joined in the Celtic celebrations at the end.

As a Hibs man I still want to say Willie Collum had an absolute howler today! Not for the first time, a terrible ref. That penalty incident was one of the shittest decisions I've ever seen a Scottish ref give.

Was as clear a sending off as you will see all weekend. 2 footed off the ground, going at pace. That was a sending 100 times out of a 100. Potential leg breaker.

As for guidetti he slipped and never once claimed for the penalty. Watch it again and the huge divet of grass that comes away making him slip.

If Scott Brown had made the tackle Willie Collum would most likely have given it a round of applause. The penalty was a hilarious dive. It made it even worse Collum had to take time to think and then gave it. Just an awful referee making terrible decisions that change games.

Scottish Cup draw:

Queen of the South v St Johnstone
The Rangers v Raith Rovers
Dundee v Celtic
Hibernian v Arbroath
Falkirk v Annan Athletic or Brechin City
Stranraer or Dunfermline Athletic v Dundee United
Partick Thistle v St Mirren or Inverness CT
Spartans v Berwick Rangers or Albion Rovers

Dundee v Celtic, Stranraer/Dunfermline v Dundee Utd and Queen of the South v St Johnstone should be the TV games, IMO.

Spartans from the Lowland League have a great chance of making the Q/F. They probably would have liked a money game against one of the evil Glasgow twins.

All least they got a home draw.
