Another two extensions today.

Jonny Hayes signed up until 2018, Andy Considine until 2017.

Hopefully Jack and Goodwillie are next.

Alistair McCoist currently 10/1 to get the Newcastle job.

I would be very surprised, I think they could do rather better.

I like Ally as a person, just am very unconvinced about him as a football manager.

But with Mike Ashley involved ( and with both Newcastle and Rangers ), who knows ...

The key to being a good troll is to remember what you have posted before Frankie boy. If you can't do that it just makes you look look a complete dick.

Extra money could be spent on transfer fee, extra wages or on loan signings. There will be players whose clubs will be willing to free them in January if someone else takes over their contract.

Anyone else notice it is only fans of Rangers and the tribute act that come out with that?

I'm at 8/1 so I wouldn't pay much notice to those odds.

I made that statement before watching your appalling match against Ross County. They are still beatable, just not by Celtic. Don't forget the Europa League winners actually win something worthwhile this time, Champions League entry, so teams are actually trying to win it now.

So after being stung by the wasps this season, they are being stung by the bees for Lewis McLeod.

Star player signing for a team who's only claim to fame is having Natalie Sawyer as a fan.

Brentford have a decent chance of promotion. Any good youngster should get out of Scottish football as it is dying on its arse. Good luck to Lewis MacLeod he'll find out if he has what it takes down there.

If your own fans on your messageboards think it is dire then I can't see anyone but happy clappers thinking otherwise. Go start a thread asking for outsiders opinions on how good Scottish football is. The Premiership in Scotland is probably about League One level in England.

Scottish fitba is dying even though debt's have been cleared, turnover is being increased at clubs and attendances are up in a lot of cases?

Actually, since Rangers died the only other club who have looked like dying are Sevco.

Transfer window opening shortly. Anyone hoping for much?

Go that sponsor yet? It's dying on its arse and the Comical Ali brigade are giving it the usual everything is fine nonsense. Go ask the rest of the subforum what they think of Scottish football.

What's the big deal about a sponsor? Teams can thrive and possible do even better when they have to stand on their own two feet rather than having money thrown at them.

When the league had decent sponsors Aberdeen were being knocked out of Europe by Bohemians and Skonto Riga etc, out star players included Mark Kerr and Zander Diamond. Now we have no sponsor we have far better players and knocked a good Dutch team out of Europe.

It's also encouraged clubs to depend on youth a bit more, there are more young players coming through now than for a long time and if they are good enough they will progress to the top level. For example, Ryan Gauld playing for Sporting last night and Lewis MacLeod moving to Brentford.

Clydesdale Bank's sponsorship was worth £8 million a season, that's not an insignificant sum when you consider it is now £0. Even Irn-Bru chucked the towel in on Scottish fitba which was worth about £3 million.

As for Aberdeen, wasn't Zander Diamond in the Aberdeen team that went to the last 32 of the UEFA Cup? No chance of that this season or next probably with the coefficient as it is. John Collins would have trouble talking up FC Groningen. You comfortably lost to a relegation threatened Real Sociedad who in turn lost 3-1 to Krasnodar who couldn't even get out the Europa league group stages themselves. It's a million miles away from being in the last 32 and drawing 2-2 with Bayern Munich.

The best Scottish youngsters get out of Scotland fairly quickly because the football up here is dying. If it was thriving and really competitive with cash and sponsors they wouldn't be leaving. Look at Fraser Fyvie the supposed next big thing, 15 games in about 2 years down south. Gauld and MacLeod might develop into good players but staying here there is no chance they would have.

You do realise that after we beat Groningen they sold one of their players for £5.2 million? They spent around £5 million as well. They may not be a glamour club but outwith the Dnipro match it's probably the best result by a non OF club in a long time.

If you think the team who drew 2-2 with Bayern are better than the current AFC team then you are absolutely barking. As great as making the last 32 was we actually only won 1 out of the 8 matches we played.

I don't remember many thinking Fyvie was anything special, especially after his bad injury. Barely good enough for Aberdeen so no surprise he's flopped. Bebo and Jack Grimmer are both far better players and start every week for Wednesday and Fulham at the moment.

The Clydesdale Bank deal was £2 million per season until 2011, I doubt it jumped to £8 million afterwards. How much of that did Aberdeen, Hibs, Caley etc actually get?

Groningen are below Cambuur Leeuwarden in the league, no I couldn't name a player from them either. It was essentially a preseason win. Real Sociedad went through without breaking a sweat and the Russians hammered them. Scottish football is even more ****ed with the coefficient now meaning more qualifying games and I can't see much changing in that respect.

You thought Fyvie would establish himself as a top quality player and were confident he would get over his injury. That's why people purring about Gauld etc need to hedge their bets as one bad injury and it can be goodbye first rate league, hello Scottish Premiership. Jack Grimmer was on loan at Shrewsbury and called into a crap Fulham side and Chris Maguire (who is 25) scored 11 goals in 46 games at Sheffield Wednesday. Hardly setting the world on fire.

On sponsorship I'd rather have a percentage of something than 100% of nothing.

Ah right. So you are basing it on a game you watched on a shitty internet stream.

If that really is your opinion then it takes away from all the draws you got on the way to getting gubbed by Zenit in Manchester.

I mean, none of the other teams cared about it.

Telling obvious porkies won't help you try to prove your point.

Not the Comical Ali routine again. Celtic would have looked terrible on a 4K TV, your own fans that were there were complaining about it. Only you seem to be thinking a 0-0 against Ross County is great and no sponsorship is great. The figure was from STV, even if it is wrong you've got 100% of nothing just now and it's no wonder why.

Normally we are only recognised because we have a pub on each corner of the ground

How good is Lewis MacLeod ? i personally don't think he'll be able to break into our 1st team this season anyway... considering he's only been playing in the Scottish lower leagues.

But we are good at improving players Andre Gray from the conference now scoring for fun in the Championship plus Stuart Dallas from the Northern Irish leagues now getting more game time in the championship after we sent him on loan to league 2.

i'd imagine the fee we agreed is a lot less than a million but with a lot of add ons that might get it nearer the million mark.

He hasn't set the world on fire despite playing against plumbers, posties, brickie's etc... - but Charles Adam took the Championship by storm despite being pish so you never know.

As you say Charlie Adam took what is now the Championship by storm when on loan to us there, regularly absolutely controlling games.

While certainly looking quite good at times, it would be untrue to say that Lewis MacLeod has had anything like the same effect.

So, a guiding light may be currently nowhere near as good as the Charlie Adam that arrived at Blackpool.

He looked reasonable but it's hard to say anything for certain as he has mostly been playing against part timers for the past couple of seasons.

Thanks for Shay Logan btw.

Don't listen to the Celtic and Aberdeen fans up above, they haven't got a clue about him and are just making vague statements.

I've only watched the highlights of Brentford this season on the League football show so don't know too much about your team. Macleod is not really tough tackling and no nonsense, probably needs to hit the gym more and bulk up a bit if he is to play in his favoured central midfield position.

Ally had him out left and he wasn't as effective and he's best with his foot on the ball and picking forward passes out and making late runs into the box. The lower league of Scotland tag is a bit of a red herring as he's put out Premiership teams in the cup and really there isn't much difference between Championship/Premiership teams in Scotland as there is in England.

A player he reminds me of is ex-Rangers player Steven Davis who is doing well at Southampton. Time will tell if he sinks or swims as the English game swallows up players and spits them out, but from all the young players I've seen leave like Wilson, Ness, Fleck, McCabe etc. I reckon MacLeod is in the best position to make it.

Enjoyed Shay's time with us, unfortunately he fell down to 3rd in the pecking order - he was always good for a laugh with team mates, but would sometimes give away silly fouls.

How's he doing?

A positive to end the year from me.

The transfers of gauld and robertson in the summer has probably addressed the balance a little as to how much scottish based players are moving for.

We now seem to have set a 3million price tag on all our players as we don't need to sell anyone or need the money despite armageddon.

Even Rangers getting million for Lewis Macleod was more than I thought they would get with their financial difficulties

This after players were moving for peanuts previously
