Ryan Gauld can't control a ball? Liam Henderson playing for Celtic can't? Charlie Telfer at Dundee Utd can't? They are professional players, not some pub team down the park. If they couldn't do the basics right they wouldn't be getting signed for English Premier League clubs or playing for Celtic or moving abroad.

Sbragia obviously wants his team set up in a specific way and this Harper doesn't fit in it this time. Fine if he is at Real Madrid and has the cream of European youth to play with but it's different when you have a limited pool to select from and you are going into tough away games against teams like Italy and you'll be wanting to defend from the front and hit on the counter.
He said he went for runners and more height lol.

Not every pro can control the ball under pressure. That's the key!!!

This boy Harper just doesn't seem to fit the style that Sbragia wants to play. It is the same for Jordan Rhodes under Strachan who said: "It leaves Jordan, like many people, with a system which doesn't suit him." That is a 1 goal every 2 games striker playing at a good level being snubbed because his game wasn't strong enough at the time in that particular system. Rumour has it he will be playing in the friendly after he worked on his game.

You need guys that will run, fight, dig and tackle. You can't be carrying a guy who floats about even is his 'technical ability' is good.

I honestly don't know what kind of football you like to watch but its sounds riveting.

Just nice that that wee lad Messi was given a chance to develop.

And no, I am not comparing Harper to Messi ( even if apparently Spain have noted Scotland U19's lack of interest in the guy )

The worrying thing is the coach has only does this as his allowed to which means those that run the game are still as clueless as ever.

A win is a win I suppose but the game was what it two low ranked sides and it showed.

Think its time to move on some of the old guard though starting with Fletcher x2.

S Fletcher is not a goalscorer at international level it's never going to happen, so why do we keep persisting with him.

I assume it's if you are on the books of an english premier side you are pretty much still guaranteed a start irrespective of club form

Two goals for Shankland after coming on as a sub in his U-21 debut today.

Wish we could somehow fit him into our team alongside Rooney.

I always thought Dingwall was a clown, now I know he is.

Tries to be a smart arse with Sports Direct and ends up with a massive legal bill.

Now got his begging bowl out on FF looking for donations.

Just been reading about that there.

Since Dingwall sells his own merchandise in competition to The Rangers official merchandise sold by Ashley and Sports Direct this could be very interesting. Love his BS excuse of wanting to ask people their opinions on zero contract hours like he somehow cared about that in the slightest.

1. he doesnt have a legal bill, the money is to hire a lawyer
2. he requested a document which all shareholders are entitled to, he will win the case

SD have applied for Mingwall to pay the costs relating to the hearing.

If it goes ahead then I assume he will have a legal bill as well as lawyer's fees. And all because he tried to be a smart arse.

How many of those are 'season' tickets which guaranteed Ireland, England and Germany tickets?

The point is to win. Play all the technical football you like, if you lose it won't mean anything how well you played.

The point for the senior side is to win competitive matches ( while they can still matter ) and pick the best team and tactics to do that now rather than think too much about tomorrow.

The point about the age group teams is to balance winning yes with developing players and styles for the future needs of the senior national team. A win at all costs mentality at that level is in my view misguided and potentially counterproductive.
