In 1989 the Scotland U16s got to the World Cup final for their age level and few of them made the grade.
Far too many examples of players who look great when young disappearing from the game within a couple years to get excited. |

The thing with rangers is that we still don't where they are in relation to spfl teams.
I still feel they would be thrashed by the likes of dundee united and Aberdeen never mind Celtic |

Credit to the Stranraer captain playing today against Clyde after spending all night as one of the many emergency workers working last night in Glasgow.

Looks like there will only be 7 spfl teams max in the next round of the cup.
What with the 4 all spl games plus Motherwell going out and st mirren needing a replay once again it's very open. Incidentally for the second year in a row why us there a scottish cup round before Xmas for the big teams. Fine if you get through but disastrous for the post Xmas second half of the season if you are not doing much in the league |

They should move R4 back to the first weekend of January (and find a way to make it R3 again, although that's less of a priority). I know it makes little practical difference, but there's something a bit rubbish about being out of the Scottish Cup before Santa's been (and indeed, for Killie and clubs that lost today, before we've even opened the first door of the advent calendar!). |

R4 was brought forward last season as part of the concession to introduce a winter break. The winter break was scrapped with the introduction of the SPFL, but the cup dates stayed the same. The Cup Final this year is 17th May, the same weekend as the 2010 final, so it's nothing to do with the World Cup.

Fantastic game at Tannadice tonight great attacking display from united.
This is developing into the best united side for 30 years bit worried about January though ![]() I think one big player plus Goodie will be off in January, but it doesn't worry me. |

I didn't think we played that well. Gauls was off the boil, yet still had three assists.

He's wasting a jersey a at united, it was the wrong move for him. Honestly he should be looking at another SPL club, or Rangers.

Lord Kenneth of Shiels has spoken on why he's been unable to get another job in Scotland - it's because he's up against some form of managerial network.
He uses the likes of McInnes, McNamara and Terry Butcher as examples of this. Not that he is bitter or anything. |

Nadir Ciftci given two match ban (one of which is suspended) for "Excessive misconduct at a match by placing an open hand into the lower area of the Assistant Referee's throat"
You wonder what folk have to do to get more than three matches. |

I wonder if Celtic will mark the passing of Mandela at the next game, if they do what a contradiction it will be after saying they dont want politics in Celtic Park.
Would like to hear Something Inside So Strong played at the next home game. |

Would like to hear Something Inside So Strong played at the next home game. I think what the board mean and doing something to mark the death of one of the world greatest leaders are two separate issues. Although I get your point - may well see a minute's silence at Fir Park. |

Celtic Football Club can confirm that any individual or group identified as being involved in any form of political display at a match involving Celtic will be banned immediately from attending matches involving the Club. Sounds pretty strong to me that nothing political is to be seen or heard at Celtic Park. I bet Lawwell and the board are squirming, they will be choking to release a statement about Mandela, wear armbands tomorrow and to do something at our next home game but know they will be ridiculed by the fans after the statement from the Milan game. You cant pick and chose when politics are allowed or not and when freedom fighters are called terrorists or not. |

´During the last two matches at Celtic Park, banner displays have taken place which have not been approved by Celtic Football Club. These were displays which were in no way football-related and which have no place at Celtic Park.

A minutes applause at Fir Park for Mandela tonight.
I thought that glorifying terrorism was illegal in Scottish football grounds? I await Police Scotland wading into the crowd to make arrests and hundreds of supporters being doorstepped over the next few weeks and months for this. |
