The way the split works is that if the table doesn't finish according to the pre-season seeding, they need to make adjustments. Sometimes this means a team having 20 home games, but that's leaves them on a "list" for giving only 18 home games in a later season if problems need solved.”
Yes, everyone gets a 19/19 split if the ( I presume secret ) pre-season seeding goes to plan and often even if it doesn't ( as long as you have 3 teans 'up' and 3 'down' after 33 matches ).
But sometimes the make-up of the top six can make that impossible, there being an imbalace of overall H vs A after 33 matches that by definition ( of now overall level H vs A in the remaining fixtures ) can't be countered. In parallel, someone must 'gain' or 'lose' in the bottom six, Kilmarnock in this instance.
Not much more can be done than putting teams on the 'list' for counter treatment in the future.
It's not the SPFL at fault, it's that the split league system can leave no avoidance of this.
And it is to an extent also understandable that it could prove difficult to accomodate special requests to tie in with such as anniversaries.
