Only team with a 100% record left in the top flight. Delighted at only having conceded one goal so far as well.

Next match is home to Celtic, should be a good one.

£11.5mil for Van Dijk.

Celtic have done well there. Thats a lot of money for a player untested at the highest level.

It's not really though when you compare it to the fees in England, diddy players like Andre Gray, Ross McCormack, and who knows who are being sold for £8/9million.

Van Dijk is the best player to play in Scotland since Larsson I would say and best defender in what must be decades. Celtic should really be getting about £15million for him.

I would agree the fees for championship players are crazy but the reality is England sees the championship as a higher standard of football than the SPL. Not forgetting Van Dijk hasnt really excelled against European opposition either.

Put it this way I wouldnt expect to see any Centre halves in the championship to be bought for £11.5 mil.

Former Aberdeen loan signing Michael Hector set to sign for Chelsea

Rumours of potential post-6pm loan deals in the Scot Prem, Michu and Stevie May potential signings for Celtic and Aberdeen.

Deadline is midnight - not 6pm as in England.

Yeah, the Championship isnt even very good either, you could probably make a squad of ex-SPL players, most of whom aren't actually that good who would achieve promotion...

XI
D.Marshall
P.Caddis
G.Greer
C.Berra
A.Robertson
B.Kayal
S.Arfield
R.Fraser
J.Russell
T.Watt
D.Murphy

BENCH/SQUAD
A.McGregor, S.Bamba, G.Loovens, C.Forsyth, D.Fox, K.McDonald, A.Shinnie, R.Wallace, C.Burke, C.Conway, C.Maguire, S.Aluko, S.May, R.McCormack

Dutch website claiming that the £13million or €18million for Van Dijk makes him the 2nd most expensive Dutch defender ever after Jaap Stam.

Good business.

He has all the tools to be a real success. He was coasting in scotland.

He is untested at playing quality players consistantly so it remains to be seen wether he will be able to handle bigger, faster, cleverer players week after week but he has all the tools. He is as big, strong and quick as any centre-back playing in the EPL and he is better on the ball than any of them, I think he will do well.

In EPL world one good season and the big four will be bidding £40m plus - no doubt we'll have a healthy sell on fee in the deal.

Yeah, they were just saying on Sky Sports News that he agreed a deal and passed a medical for them last night and they were unsure what the hold up is. Could be Celtic trying to get the best deal we can and leaving Southampton panicking to get it over the line to get either extra money or a higher sell on clause.

We have played the Van Dijk saga well, got him for all our qualifiers and now a team desperate to sign him possibly being held to ransom at the death of the window

Only bad thing is we have no chance of replacing him with anyone as good and will be a weaker team than last season

Van Dijk strolled through SPL matches but then so did Boumsong and things didn't go to well for him in the EPL.
I think we've done really well with this deal and got rid of a player who was getting a bit too petulant for my liking, throwing wee tantrums and pointing fingers every time he had to do some work.

Southampton have now spent around £35m on three Celtic players in 3 years who costed the club a combined fee of around £5m.

Unfortunately justification for our poor recruitment policy when it comes to £2m strikers.

Did Boumsong though? Boumsong was always a very clumsy player who was awful on the ball he was more like Boyata than Van Dijk.

Van Dijk is several levels above the likes of Boumsong or any others in recent years Caldwell, Weir, Cuellar, Bougherra, Majstorovic - these players are woeful in comparison to him.

We will badly miss his leadership as well and even creativity from the back. He always organised players, was giving out orders, and controlling the whole defence. 1 on 1 he was barely every beaten in over 100 games. We will miss him very, very badly I think.

I think there was more to the Boumsong deal than meets the eye.

Pity then that his organisation skills went AWOL last week at two set pieces.

Rumour Celtic sell on clause is 15%.
