Has to be the most humiliating euro result in Scottish football history.

Don't be embarrassed, Celtic supporters - Brendan Rodgers isn't.

"A game that we dominated and had enough chances to score, but sometimes it can happen in games like that, one ball up the pitch and they’re in. We’ve given ourselves a bit of work to do. I saw enough from the game, we created enough to go through. Of course you never want to lose the game. You let the local team have their night, we press on, another week’s training and be better for it. There’s no embarrassment. We never took our chances and they took theirs. The second leg will be different.

"There’s no panic. We’ve got enough quality here to get through to the next round. It’s a two-legged affair, our objective is to get through. I think the players gave everything that they had. The message (to the fans) is to stay calm. I always felt this qualification phase would be based on the second legs at home and we’ll need their support."

I thought the Aberdeen one the other night was the worst but this......

Scottish football is at an all time low
Agree. 1st an 2nd in Scotland losing games to teams from Gibraltar and Liechtenstein absolutley horrendous stuff, unheard of until now.

I don't like either of the old firm.
Tonight's priceless though.
Lincoln Red Imps avg att - 28
Their current manager was appointed after winning a competition.
They can't train on their pitch on a Tuesday due to the local metal detecting club using it.
Striker & goalscorer Lee Casciaro served 6yrs for dealing Class A narcotics.

Poor performance and result, but Celtic should win 2nd leg comfortably.

Brown and Bitton should be both dropped.

Celtic probably will win comfortably at home.
Scott Brown would be best retiring tbh. Ambrose too.
Rodgers will need funds, Rangers will be a challenge for Celtic, this coming season I reckon.
My team'll do well to stay in The Championship again, we've only 14 signed players & another 2 who've been signed from our disbanded Youth system.
Spookily though, our new Joma away kit is the same as Lincoln Red Imps kit & we also play in front of 'A Rock'

I wouldn't take what is said to the press as the same what is said in the dressing room.

Roberts should never not play in this Celtic side. Centre midfield is a huge concern. There is nothing there.

Has to be brave and drop brown. I don't understand how every manager whether it's Celtic it Scotland persists with with brown. It's mind boggling.

Nice to see that "the shite talk" that has seen our Brendan rob multi-millions from the eejits that have chosen to employ him hasn't left his velvet tongue ... this season has the potential to be quite hilarious.

both tonight's result and Aberdeen's have shown us the true standing of the scottish game at present ... utter shite as many suspected.

Indeed, Rodgers is trying to shield the players and take the pressure off them for the second leg.

But is a bit of outward criticism for players who've secured the club arguably its worst result ever not justified?

Possibly the most inept performance by a Celtic team I have ever watched.
You could pick 11 players out of the Celtic crowd that could play better than that.

Celtic will win the 2nd leg with ease. The players let the manager and fans down tonight big time though.

The lack of urgency and effort was truly shocking. Players seem to have treated it like a friendly and just thought they could turn up and stroll through the game.

The pitch was diabolical but that doesn't give player's the right not to work.

Some of them players will be lucky to still be Celtic players come start of the season.. Celtic should do whatever it takes to get kolo toure at the club. They need leadership and he will give them that.

Would also go big on trying to get Joe Allen

And one of Lincoln Red Imps players is a taxi driver and he only finished his shift two hours before the match

I get the feeling that Rodgers is simply a loser his excuse for this defeat is remarkably similar to those he trotted out at Liverpool after each "success" achieved at Anfield.

He doesn't seem capable of getting the best out of his players but having said that I can't see Celtic losing this tie over two legs.

As bad as the result goes, its still too early to savage Rodgers. I remember Strachan losing 5-0 in his first European game, yet he went on to become a good manager for Celtic. There's a long way to go till Rodgers can get the team he wants.

He spent a fortune at Liverpool and still didn't win the Prem. although that's a much tougher league so even he should be able to finish in the top two in Scotland.

To think Celtic fans were slagging off Kranjcar for being too old at 31 and a policeman and taxi driver who was working up until 1pm that day just battered them in Europe on the 12th of July

It really is the most embarrassing result for any Scottish team ever and easily Celtic's worst ever result. I knew Brenda was a dud in Europe but this surpassed all expectations of how bad he is. How was that 19 year old striker anyway? Surely he should have had a hat trick because he's 19 and playing against a pub team? Celtic should sign that big copper up front for the Imps

Strachan's team had Boruc, Balde, Petrov, Thompson, Lennon, Maloney, McGeady and Hartson. Not Efe Ambrose and Nir Bitton.
