Looks like there is a fair whack of cash on and some tweets appearing about van Persie going to Ibrox.
Hence the silly forum rumours. RVP seemed a vaguely sensible guess, David Villa has also been mentioned. Balotelli is the joke forums choice. But it will all be nonsense. Caused by an overexcited commentator. But then, this time last year, Barton and Niko would have been seen as silly, so who knows?. Same for Toure for yourselves. |

The whole thing came from a RangersTV comment by (the usually overexcited) Tom Miller, who said the next signing would be 'sensational' and bigger than Barton or Kranjcar.

Kranjkar was playing in the 2nd tier of American Soccer. Amazingly a lower level than even Kris Boyd was playing at over there so again not as if clubs all over Europe were trying to sign him. |

Really? Barton was playing for Burnley the championship as nobody else wanted him. Not exactly hot property.

Oh and after Larsson and Van Persie I'm going all out. I think big Cris has had enough of Spain ![]() Crouch, I just can't see it |

This is what really bugs me(and I'm sure a few others) about his forum. You are really trying to say that these were not huge signings?? It's almost as if you can't compliment Rangers in any way and take every opportunity to have a dig. I'll happily admit Celtic signing Toure was a great piece of business.
Oh and after Larsson and Van Persie I'm going all out. I think big Cris has had enough of Spain ![]() Crouch, I just can't see it Finished dead last in the EPL winning only 8 games all season and losing 24, hammered 3-0 at home by Sheffield Utd in the FA Cup and put out of the League Cup by Burton Albion. In the league Barton made 27 starts and Kranjcar 11 starts. Hardly stellar I think we'd all agree. It's a bit like if the Scott Sinclair saga was to finish with him coming to Celtic, I don't think he will, although obviously Sinclair is a fair amount younger than both Barton and Krancjar. He'd be a decent enough signing but absolutely nothing earth shattering. Same with Toure. |

To make it through 3 or 4 rounds of pre-qualifiers to the group stages of Champions League i.e. Celtic, or the Europa League i.e. Aberdeen, Hearts or Hibs is proving to be extremely difficult (impossible for most) let alone then also qualifying for the latter knock out stages right now.
How realistically is the co-efficient going to improve when our major clubs are entering European competitions in June and July? |

Maribor were streaming it on YouTube.
1-1 FT - difficult game next week for Aberdeen. We dominated for most of the match and had almost 20 shots and countless crosses into the box. With a bit of luck the tie we could have put the tie to bed already. Another blunder from Taylor though, seems to be happening a lot recently. Maribor are not great, nowhere near the level of team of a couple of years ago. I'll be disappointed if we don't win over there. |

How realistically is the co-efficient going to improve when our major clubs are entering European competitions in June and July? The standard of player isn't good enough to compete with the smaller European nations let alone higher up. This has been the case for years but nothing proactive gets done to address this. The powers that be and the media are simply happy that Celtic v 'Rangers' is back and that'll do. It's ridiculous. I don't think any other major football playing nation would accept such mediocrity and would address the problems. Technically players just don't cut it. We are talking the basics of controlling the ball with one touch and passing accurately to a teammate when under pressure. This should be a given. They don't need to be able to score amazing goals or beat players just do the basics so the side can actually keep the ball. Celtic v Astana for instance shouldn't be a game which is regarded as a 50/50. That should be a tie Celtic are expected to win but when players fail to do the basics it isn't. Previously Celtic and Rangers would do enough to keep the Co efficient decent but they could bring in better players then. This allowed the powers that be to shirk responsibility as things didn't look to bad. Those that run the game should hang there heads in shame. They have no clue. Aberdeen are still in it. 1-1 at home isn't a disaster. |

Poor fella. His team gets beat, he jumps on the pitch looking for a fight, gets knocked out, lifted, jailed and gets a banning order! |

I, as a Rangers diehard, have no problem whatsoever praising your club. Celtic is a great club, with a great history, and mostly great fans. I will praise or criticise Celtic depending on whether I think they deserve either. Most of the rivalry is just banter, with no real dislike behind it. I think its brilliant for you to get a manager like Rodgers up here, and I am impressed that you have players like Toure and Dembele. I have no problem giving genuine praise, why cant you?. This is leading on from an earlier post where I made the same complaint about lack of even the smallest credit. You wittered on about beating wee clubs. I wasn't talking about that, I was referring to Rangers as a club rebuilding on and off the park, Rangers bringing name, quality players to Scottish football (as Celtic do/have, and I commend them for it). Any other Scottish club who has rebuilt itself from the bottom of the Scottish game to challenge for the top title in a few short years, has rebuilt off the field from the criminal shambles of 2012, and who has brought quality British and European players to the SPL and Scottish football, would be commended. |

And Niko is just class. He could be wearing the green and white and I would say that. He is short of match fitness and overall fitness, yet already has been a joy to watch. Once he is at the top of his game, imo he will be the best player in the SPL. By a distance. |

We acknowledge that a tiny minority of Rangers fans also encroached on the pitch but only after having been faced with prolonged and severe provocation and in order to protect our players and officials who were being visibly attacked in front of them. Any club’s supporters would have done the same. This distressing and deeply disturbing episode would never have happened had Hibs fans behaved properly but as they swarmed across the pitch it became immediately obvious that the security procedures were inadequate and had failed.
These fans were allowed to rush, unchecked, towards Rangers supporters at the opposite end of the stadium – all the while goading and threatening them. This makes it preposterous to suggest Rangers fans were somehow to blame as some commentators appear anxious to do. This thuggish behaviour must be investigated and as many culprits as possible brought to book and formally charged. |
