According to reports it was the medical team that said "no thanks"
The story is changing then, earlier it was that he didn't want to move his family to Glasgow.

So if we take the English speaking countries (with ex-pats) out of the mix and the Israelis of course, we're talking about 6 countries, many with a vested interest.
Germany - http://www.welt.de/sport/article1577...ahnenmeer.html
France - http://www.lexpress.fr/actualite/spo...n_1822483.html
Spain - http://www.elconfidencial.com/mundo/...pions_1248191/
Indonesia - http://en.tempo.co/read/beritafoto/4...t-Israeli-Club
Italy - http://www.ilpost.it/flashes/celtic-palestina/

Need we go on?

I think I'll go with the BBC on this given 'family reasons' is about as believable as ' I just realised where Scotland is'.

The Israeli coppers and hooligans over there will be loving the away support turning up next week. What was it some anti-Semitic thing or terrorism solidarity?

Lescott has said "no thanks".
Sky says family, BBC says failed medical.

If its the latter, its a shame. Quality player even at 34. But we don't want crocks of any age. IMO offer Senderos a deal and go for the lad at Forest, Jack Hobbs. A CH duo of those two would have age (27/31), pace and experience. They would compliment each other. And you still have Wilson, Kiernan and Hill as backups.

No, I don't believe The Human Thumb and Sinclair would have ripped him apart, anymore than I think Garner or Windass or Waggy will do the same to Toure. Lescott has bags of nous and experience.

Superb statement from the Green Brigade about the fantastic display at Celtic Park last night.
Those first six words do not belong together. The GB are a vile bunch and an embarrassment to the vast majority of decent Celtic fans.

A "vile bunch"?

The work they do for charity every year is vile?

The foodbank collections they've organised for families that are unable to feed themselves, at last years they collected 7.5t of food, is vile?

The money raised at these collections, £9k at the last one, and given to charity is vile?

Taking part in the Bethlehen2Belfast project is vile?

Raising money to take aid for those stuck in camps in Calais is vile?

Their annual football tournament which brings together different sections of the Celtic support as well as refugee groups is vile?

Nothing like going over the top ayrshireman1.

Rumour re Lescott is that his knees are not in the greatest condition.
Rangers offered a pay for play deal and Lescott declined.

Funny how you ignore the vile banners they have unveiled, like the disgusting poppy one. And numerous other acts of questionable and unpleasant behaviour. Yes, such a great bunch of lads your club has banned several of them sine die. And banned the lot for several months. Did they not.

Even many of your own fans don't like them. So you crack on fanboy, sorry timboy.

I stand by what I said. Celtic fans are great by and large. The GB are a bunch of ultra wee bigots.

I think yous escaped big time there with the Elephant Man knocking you back. Lescott shouldn't get a contract with anyone after his behaviour at Aston Villa. He was taking the piss out of his own clubs supporters for how bad they were which is criminal as these guys were paying him millions of pounds a year.

All you need to do now is avoid signing Senderos who is a carthorse and you've escaped two disasters.

That poppy represents the soldiers that carried out a massacre in Derry in January 1972. Surely you can understand why some people didn't want that on the front of a Celtic shirt?

IMO you are being rather disingenuous if you say you can't understand why.

And banned the lot for several months. Did they not.
They were in the ground every game, just in different parts of the stadium and not always as a group. On several occasions they congregated in 118.

Even many of your own fans don't like them.
And?

Different people in having different opinions shocker!

As someone who knows members of the group your opinion is well off the mark. I get that you don't like their political outlook but the reality is that they cover a wide age group, a wide range of careers and a wide range of opinions. The only thing that they'll all have in common is a love for Celtic and looking to create a good atmosphere in the ground.

How is the poppy one disgusting though?

Look at the crimes of the British Army.... off the charts, killed more innocent people and caused more terror and destruction than ISIS, the Taliban and numerous others combined in more countries than you can name.

The disgusting part is how that is all swept under the carpet and people are brainwashed into calling them heroes.

Whit?

Have you ever looked at the Barcelona badge?
It's the flag of the region, it might have political associations now but it's still the LOCAL flag.

People are free to wear poppies if they want but I won't simply because I know that support after WWII was not exactly egalitarian and I'm pretty sure that continues to this day.
The flag of Palestine is also a local flag, the City of Beersheba where the opposition were from was in Palestine until Israeli's went in and took it off them by bomb and gun.

Biggest signing in their history, a show of major ambition. Motherwell, Hearts and Aberdeen will be looking over their shoulders now

We might have a wee chuckle at his terrible scoring record in the Championship but his League 1 record is good and there are some terrible defences up here.

I don't think he'll get near what Griffiths will score over the entire season but I think he'll get a decent return for them.

I must have been too subtle - I was trying to exploit the poor grammar to add a bit of levity to the thread

Along the same lines as Chic Murray's wife opening the door in her dressing gown - which is a funny place to have a door.
