The money is for setting up broadcasting facilities at grounds where they don't usually broadcast from I think.

But surely subscribers and advertisers should be throwing themselves at BT, meaning they can more than cover such costs?

The deal relying on certain viewing figures sounds made up as how do you gauge how many are watching in packed pubs etc. Looking at it from a football drama point of view the Championship looks a far more marketable league than the Scottish Premiership which is essentially over before a ball is kicked. If Hibs come down it will have the biggest game in Scotland potentially.
And of course a league is always all about who wins it.
The whole "Championship will be better/more interesting/more marketable" claptrap is just that. But the media are lapping it up.
It makes me want Hibs to beat Hamilton, just to destroy their dream.

You can't seriously think the Scottish Premiership is of any interest commercially? Celtic will win it by 30 points and second is like telling you who finished 3rd bottom or you were runner up in the cup. The Championship looks a real tussle between Rangers/Hearts/Falkirk/Hamilton or Hibs. All of those teams could potentially win the league and with Craig Levein at Hearts and Hibs maybe coming down there's a real drama there. Rangers will be playing a majority of full time teams and even tricky part time teams like Dumbarton or Cowdenbeath will play their part.
I'd watch the Championship's guaranteed top game of Hearts vs Rangers ahead of any Scottish Premiership game.

I was personally quite devastated when St Mirren so inappropriately started winning games at just the wrong time.
Not getting into the Championship made Danny Lennon's position untenable.

You can hardly compare a league carrying 3 part time teams to a full time league with 2 more teams in it, you're at a major disadvantage commercially straight away. The Scottish Premiership can't attract sponsorship though despite these advantages and that's partly because of no Rangers and no competition. It's won before a ball is kicked.

When Rangers were last in the SPL, only games to sell out were Old Firm games. Rest of Celtic's home games weren't full capacity. It will be the same, even if The Rangers come back in season after next.

Yeah it's an enviable position to be in winning 10 whole games and hovering over the trap door every season. You might at least have a chance at the Championship title and see your team win games. You've got no chance of the Premiership league and a tiny chance of top 6. It's bottom 6 for St Mirren with you being lucky if you don't finish bottom 2 as you don't have a get out of jail card in Hearts next season who won as many games as you despite all their problems.

That posts literally makes no sense. Before Rangers were placed into liquidation and died they were our rivals. Of course more people are going to attend a game against their clubs biggest rivals. It is the same throughout all leagues.

St Mirren got £1005142 in prize money this year, if they were to get relegated and then win the Championship they would get £386248, figures based on this years prize money. £620k would be a huge whole for St Mirren.

Yesterday I read in the daily record and online that the Hibs v Hamilton were able to be beamed free as sky and BT have fulfilled their contractual obligations. Does this mean they will be available free to air? Or just that sky don't have to pay to broadcast it?

They are still the same club and that will be reflected in the attendance at Celtic Park when you play them, the ticket price, the police presence and the coverage and the commercial deals to go with it. It's the elephant in the room that they are the same club and people seem to be just denying it for some reason beyond me.

But that's like getting humped every week and showing people the balance sheet and giving a thumbs up. The Championship looks undeniably to be the most evenly matched and most exciting league in Scotland next season by quite some distance. I don't know what the hole in the finances would be at the end of next season but from a footballing point of view it's good to see your team on a winning streak and a chance at winning a league rather than just keeping your head above water.
I'm gutted that after all those years of Aberdeen being p1sh and flirting with relegation we finally become decent and didn't get the chance to play in football's holy grail.
The chance to play against the best players in Scotland, qualify for Europe and earn a decent bit of cash for a high finish all pale into insignificance when I think about the prospect of the Blue Brazil rolling up to Pittodrie in a fleet of Ford Fiesta's.

This sounds like 'winning is everything and who cares about the finances'.
I remember another team trying this strategy.
Winning is not everything, Saints staying up is probably a massive victory for their fans, throw in a cup run or two and it's a great season.
Rangers are 1/6 on to win the league so the bookies don't think it'll be anywhere near as competitive or exciting as League 1 or 2 will be.

A pedestrian Motherwell side pipped you to second condemning you to play and probably go out of Europe against a team you've probably never even heard of. You're hardly strolling into the Champions League group stages with £80 million banked. Just try not to do too much damage to the coefficient.
