I went to see the poppies last week, and I should think a thousand people were taking selfies at once. It is just the way of things these days. Last time I went to an actual funeral, people were tweeting during the service at the crematorium.

I did that one, and so have lots of my friends. I can't honestly see anything wrong with it. I took ages and ages choosing five photographs that really meant something in my life, and have been touched to see friends doing the same. The 'purpose' is to share with your friends something that is very personal and important (and generally positive) to you. I don't think it needs more justification than that.
