It won't if your privacy settings are set up correctly. The ones that you're seeing are people that have no privacy settings and all their posts are public. If you have your settings configured to "just friends" the only people that will be able to see your posts are people that you're friends with.

They are, I hate all these passive aggressive things. If you want to say something just say it. My Dad put one up about how people should reply to messages as soon as they see them and not wait a few days. I know that was aimed at me because I very rarely reply to anyone straight away. Just because I can respond immediately 24/7 doesn't mean I have to. Before mobiles and the internet did people get annoyed because someone didn't respond to a letter the second it came through the letter box? No.

One of my FB chums is an idiot and i keep her because her updates are so entertaining (I've posted several of her posts on this thread), She shares at least 20 inspirational messages everyday. You have to sift through them all to find one of her written posts, but they are so good, its worth the wait.

Just made dinner for me and my husband yum yum yum home made cottege pie and parsly sauce with bocolly and potatoes yum yum lol i love my husband lol what am i like.

Her cooker broke down a few years back and she made several posts about it. every time she called it her '£500 range style cooker'

I have this guy I used to work with on Facebook. I remember he was a decent guy when I worked with him and we always got on, but I haven't seen him since he got a new job about 18 months ago.

Anyway on FB, he's starting to go down the David Icke route. He's not at the reptilian stage of things, but he's always posting about the NWO and how he's anti mainstream media. He shares things from random news "sources" to prove that the MSM is lying and that they are trying to suppress the truth and control us etc, etc. Whilst I agree that a lot of MSM is crap, this stuff that he shares is even crapper. Some of the stuff he's shared is blatantly untrue, and when I've politely pointed out what he's posted is untrue (using my own sources to back myself up), he gets all, "But it might be true! We don't know the full facts!"

Someone now no longer on my friends list actually shared one of those 'amen' type posts yesterday.

Absolutely astounded. Who thinks to themselves. I know. Legs make this and out it on Facebook. And after whoever decided to do that had finished and posted it on Facebook what kind of utter moronic idiot actually shares it. Likes it or does anything but roll there eyes upon seeing it.

It's not that I find it distasteful. It's not that some people will find it insensitive and upsetting. Although both of those are true. It's the monumental levels of stupidity involved all around that amaze me.

Facebook is just so cringe isn't it. There's a girl on mine who constantly puts photos of her kids up, which is alright, but she puts naked photos of them in the bath on there. I think that's just dodgy.

Saw one of my pet hates yesterday. "Does anybody know if you need an appointment for the NHS Walk-In Centre ?". Er, you could ring them & ask. But of course then you wouldn't get all the "OMG wots up hun? xx" comments.

If the friend you share with has their posts set to "Friends of friends" or "public" and they then comment on the thing you shared with them then it becomes visible to their friends as well.

No, if you post something and it is set to just friends, nobody else but friends will see it regardless of their settings.

If you're talking about if you comment on somebody elses status then yes, the people that can see the other persons status will see your comments.

I would have agreed with you up until the weekend. I changed my profile photo and a FB friend liked it. A mutual work colleague who is FB friends with my friend but not me, commented in the office on my change of photo. I have checked again and I have all the sharing options locked down to the minimum level. Odd.

Your profile picture is public by default though.

The only other way other people would see your actual statuses is if you tag someone else in them, then their friends will see it. Or, if you write something directly on the other persons timeline, such as a happy birthday message.

as far as I'm concerned though, the person I replied to originally was talking about actual statuses and photos posted by themselves with nobody else tagged.

Statuses that are posted by yourself on your own timeline are totally dictated by your privacy settings and nobody elses (unless you tag others in them) and this is what the original poster was talking about.

Even if someone else shares your status, if it's set to friends only and they have theirs public only mutual friends will see it. Recently someone my wife is friends with but I'm not posted a status informing people that her husband had died, she had her status set to friends only, her mother-in-law (who I am friends with) shared this status hoping to let her friends know but nobody apart from mutual friends could see it. I couldn't see it.

An acquaintance (rather than friend and since deleted) publicly shared a status post regarding her sister having just given birth to a stillborn child. The post was accompanied by a picture of her gazing sadly into the lens, holding the dead baby, whose face was angled towards the camera... I genuinely couldn't believe my eyes!

Dear God, that's awful. If a person wants to keep a picture of their stillborn baby, that's fine - it's their choice - but I object to them sharing it with me if I'm not knowing it's coming. And the attention seeking side of it's just terrible as well. What the hell are you expected to do with that pic? "Like" it? Geez.

Wow I've just re-read your post - was it even her own child? I mean, who was in the pic? The bereaved mum or your acquaintance?
