I just deleted a very distant cousin from my Facebook friends because she posted she hoped people had a good time at a local Boxing Day fox hunt and she was sorry she couldn't be there. As an animal lover, I have no second thoughts about kicking anyone who is into fox hunting to the curb. Disgusting. Glad I probably won't ever have to see her in person again since we met years and years ago.

Fox hunting is a humane sport. You should probably apologise and re friend her if she will take you back.

I'm afraid you've just wasted your breath completely with that post.

It really, really shocked me. I don't know this person well - they are a very distant cousin who I met once in person years ago - and I am very glad I probably won't ever seen the in real life. I really didn't think many "regular" people supported fox hunting. I thought it was mainly just some old boys club type thing.

Someone I know, known for self harming has put up photos of his arm covered in scars and cuts ,while he was at the hospital.

Ok people have their reasons for self harming but to put photos up of it on FB?? Come on! I can't help but feel its a sort of bragging or 'please feel sorry for me' .

I just find it completely ridiculous when people are injured /sick in hospital and they start taking photos of their injuries and stick them up on FB !!!

Attention-seeking, that's all. I hate it. I've deleted a few people who have posted photographs of drip stands and catheter bags. I'm sympathetic but hey, that's not nice.

I forgot to say they also included a picture of a hunt. Yeah. :(

This.

And in terms of people posting hospital/medical photos I think privacy has become a totally alien concept to them, which I find both very worrying and deeply sad. I too would delete people who posted anything like that. There are things in life other people do not need to see, but that is another concept becoming alien to too many out there.

OK, so its not strictly speaking "a" status update but I need to vent.

There is a friend of mine on facebook, she's always tended to overshare IMO but on the whole is relatively harmless.... things took a sinister turn over christmas... she got engaged
In the 3 days since, we've had pcitures of the spot he proposed, where we went afterwards, where we are now...what the spot looked like yesterday.... this was the view... that was the bench... a fulld escription of how he said it, how they both cried... already pictres of wedding dresses and the like have started appearing.. we're currently getting.. on our way to [a place] to tell his parents + pictures... today we've had we're on our way to [aplace] to tell her parents + pictures

So I'd like to take this opportunity to say....
Yes we f$%^king get it, you got engaged! well done, we're happy for you.... now F$%k off

I've got a workmate who I get on really well with but I saw her husband has posted a photo of him holding up several birds he shot and her giving the thumbs up.
It's not a subject we've ever discussed but it really shocked me.

I agree with this as well.

I have a friend who has just had a baby girl 10 weeks early and is posting daily photo updates of her daughter in an incubator with tubes and wires attached asking everyone to pray for her.

I understand she's obviously worried but it all seems a bit too intrusive for me

She surely didn't use the word 'fox' in her post about hunting. And if people want to prance about in expensive coats chasing each other, why shouldn't they, really?

I can understand that though. I'm not necessarily saying I would do it, but she is obviously terribly anxious and if it helps her who is to argue? I would go so far as to say a little prayer each day. I can't see that it would do any actual harm.

I have a friend who has taken to posting a fat free vegan recipe every day. I'm sorry but they all look disgusting, or at best like something you might put on the plate next to a nice pork chop. And she always sounds so thrilled by this drab parade of grains and leaves. It's like the kind of facebook entries a guinea pig might make if it could write.

I'm got a mate who is a 52 year old divorced man with a lot of female friends. He's a flirty guy and enjoys online banter with quite a few women.
He recently started seeing someone and she is acting like a lovesick teenage girl and marking her territory every chance she gets.
Every time he makes a jokey post and any female responds to him, the gf jumps straight in reminding us he's taken and how much she really, really loves him.

Why did it shock you? we kill animals to eat meat everyday. Or do you think your Christmas turkey committed suicide?

I haven't eaten meat for 25 years but there is a difference between killing to eat and killing for fun
