Albums
Music Of The Sun - 607,000 (Aug 2005)
A Girl Like Me - 1,400,000 (Apr 2006) (Estimate)
Good Girl Gone Bad - 2,800,000 (June 2007)
Rated R - 1,100,000 (Nov 2009) (Estimate)
Loud - 1,600,000 (Nov 2010)
Talk That Talk - 1,100,000 (Nov 2011) (Estimate)
Unapologetic - 1,076,000 (Nov 2012)

Total = 9,683,000

The figures here are from Buzzjack or the most recent figures I could find in the press.

Do you think that's impressive? I think she needs to do a greatest hits album this year or even next year and then her 8th album.

High Selling Singles

We Found Love - 5,057,149
Disturbia - 4,611,765
Umbrella - 4,260,303
S & M - 3,576,008
Don't Stop The Music - 3,539,140
Stay - 3,515,602
Only Girl (In The World - 3,477,234
Diamonds - 3,093,703

Big Hits Total = 40,811,000+

I am missing many more hits but do not know the exact figure but I could not find any other definitive sources.

Other Hits
What's My Name - 2,000,000+
Take A Bow - 2,000,000+
Rude Boy - 2,000,000+
You Da One - 1,000,000+
Birthday Cake - 1,000,000+
Where Have You Been - 1,000,000+
Pour It Up - 1,000,000+
Loveeeeee Song - 500,000+

You cannot deny from these figures that she is very successful when it comes to selling a single or 12 haha!

Any thoughts?

Yeah, her sales are very impressive (although I think everybody knew that already haha). Especially considering in the US a lot of her airplay comes from rhythmic and urban formats which don't help sales much.

It's also impressive considering she's constantly having songs out. Most people reckon if she took a break her songs and albums would sell more.

Looking at those US sales, these are truly impressive. Her US album sales are very consistent and having six consecutive platinum albums (since her second album) really does say something. What is more impressive are her single sales. Rihanna makes selling millions and getting certified look very easy. When you add the international sales data for all her albums and singles, the picture looks even better. Her latest tour has been grossing better than before and her next album is starting to have some hype. She really needs to take a break though but these are very excellent sales.

What we need is a greatest hits. So many classic and well known songs. It could be her ''Immaculate Collection'' moment.

Wow, surprised to see you all saying her sales are impressive. I was actually expecting more from her! Her album sales in particular are quite low to me, considering how many she's had and how long she's been active.

I'm not particularly amazed either. Her UK sales are much more impressive.

They are not the best album sales for an artist of her calibre but what IS impressive is the consistency...

But if she were to a break would it hinder her album sales? The break between 07-09 did affect them.....and it was HARDLY a break lol

There wasn't really a break when you think of the re-release of Good Girl Gone Bad in 2008. Even so there were other factors effecting Rated R's performance, the Chris Brown incident was still fresh at that time which over shadowed her music and gave her some negative media attention. Plus the dramatic change in music and image direction.

Also, Loud has sold either 1.7million or 1.8million...I read it on Billboard a few weeks ago.

Loud sold more in the UK than it did in the US which I think is amazing.

Thing with Rihanna is her promo time is split quite a bit. She's unable to give full dedicated US promo because she's a worldwide star. That's why her sales aren't as huge as you'd expect. And to be fair, focusing on the UK just as much as the US was the smartest decision her team ever made.
