Using K9 on Nexus 7
CABINET
25-08-2013
I use K9 to get emails on the rare occasions that I am away from home.

I have noticed that if I receive an email while I am away it does not appear on my home pc when I get back (using Outlook 2010).

Why

and, more importantly, can I change the situation.

Have tried googling but do not understand most of the answers - I am technically illiterate.

from the little to no information you have given it is difficult to be certain.

but you would generally benefit from using IMAP to connect your mobile client.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond but you will understand my problem when I say that your last sentence means nothing to me .

I suspect I will have to put up with the problem or try and find a technically literate friend or relative to help .

For what its worth I have a blueyonder (Virgin) account and I have somehow managed to get my tablet to receive my mails. I suspect there must have been some sort of "wizard" type instructions which helped me (this would have been a few months ago). I only want to use the tablet a couple of times a year while on holiday in the UK.

95% of the time I access email through outlook on my desktop pc. If the mails get to my tablet first they do not appear on my pc. I don't enjoy using a small "keyboard" on the tablet so would always prefer to reply to mail on my desktop.

What I have been doing is forwarding any mail received on the tablet to my email address and then immediately switching off the wi-fi on the tablet to prevent them arriving straight back which is a pain.

I just wondered if anybody could tell me how to make the mails arrive in both locations.

We'll the IMAP settings are here:

Basically there are two main protocols for receiving mail. One is IMAP and the other POP3. The former is more suited to the situation where you are retrieving from more than one location.

Is virgin mail one of those things that is really rebranded gmail? In that case there is probably a thing in the settings.

Look for any settings in K9 that allow you to leave incoming emails on the server. Your PC can then retrieve the emails from the server and then delete them from the server.

The next time you use K9 the old emails will probably disappear.

(That is what happens when I use my mobile phone to retrieve emails)

I have looked for such a thing but without success. I had hoped that someone else would use K9 and might be able to help.

The number of settings available are very few.

Try another email app. Unfortunately the email app on my Samsung Android phone came with it or I would have suggested it.
