The website seems to have re-opened in some form or another. www.brookside.com is redirecting somewhere new and I'm sure like me you'll be totally annoyed because it's so biased and trying to prove a point that a character is bigger than the whole show.

Anyways for brookie fans or anybody who generally wants to take a peek:

www.brookside.com head there now

Gawd it's awfully biased

It's sad news in a way, as it looks like Brookside is 100% dead now. When the site was under re-development I had a good feeling that some more DVD's would be released or even a spin-off series, but now there seems to be no chance.

I've just watched it, quite good! Nice to see one Brookside character lives on. Channel 4 should show these clips occasionally in the 5 minute slot after their news (19:55-20:00).

What a good idea Chris E.
I'm a bit annoyed that something more Brookside orientated wasn't on there but still a good site.
I wonder if it's just being used temporary until they get the Brookie one up and running then it can stop redirecting there?

I think one of the stories that killed Brookside off was Jimmy Corkhill's mental illness - the story just seemed to go on and on and on. Tedious!

Btw I felt it was a little forced perhaps, I don't think I can be a regular viewer of these Jimmy rants I loved Brookie and it's nice to see Dean/Jimmy again but it's NOT Brookside and IMHO it's not good enough compensation.

Exactly, it was great before the millenium, that's when things started going downhill with Jimmy's millenium arch then he plastered the windows with newspaper cuttings do you remember?

Isn't it a shame though, I'm sure instead of Jimmy Corkhill we'd prefer some classic clips, the Jordache ones would be a great start.

I think its the overpoliticising of Brookside in a corny and apparent fashion that reduced the character of Jimmy into Phil Redmonds parrot.

If we have to put up with this, I want a few references to Brookside close, afterall that's what the site is supposed to be about.

Exactly Sarge, and thats what pissed me off about Brookie's final scene with Jimmy Corkhill's rant.

I agree, Jimmy's mental illness kind of ruined his character in a way. However it was very true to life, you're never truly the same again after a mental illness like JImmy had.

I liked the one in the final episode it was a get yer own back kind of thing and I enjoyed it, it was the only Jimmy rant I've made sense of.

What I really hated about Redmond’s/Jimmy’ speech was the part about commercialism – If anyone watches Hollyoaks they’ll know how contradictory that was “using sex to sell”.

Phil Redmond has not only lost all credibility, but also most of his creativity and I now see him as a major sell-out. He’s also in the process of selling MersyTV, so not all's well in his corner of the world.

He only owns half of it anyways doesn't he? I did hear he drafted another company in so that after his day it will live on.

Brookside became a shambles and I think Phil Redmond knows he was wrong. He created Hollyoaks which is average but certainly not aimed at older viewers/the mainstream, he had a good soap a primetime soap, with great storylines and it was a hit at one point with 8 million viewers which must have been great for channel 4 looking at the BARB ratings now but then he lets it go down the pan.

C4 said there wasn't a market for it anymore because it lost the ratings they were wrong, if the writing/producing hadn't gone downhill Brookie would still have been fairing well in the mainstream, such a shame.

I know I've seen that one thanks. Just be nice if you could watch them online at a site and browse an archive of some sort.
