Why? i put netflix onto my Nexus 4 a few weeks back, I was with a couple of friends and we was chatting about netflix, so I installed it on the phone to see what was available.

Anyway, I was watching something on Netflix via my Ps3 and I had a text, so I went to look at my phone and it was showing what I was watching on the Ps3, i could also stop and pause it with the phone.

Not liking that idea to be honest and surly there must be a way to stop it other wise if someone else had a Android device in the house and wanted to watch something different, they could not.

You can choose to play content on the Android device or on the TV. It shouldn't be an issue.

but the Android App can still control my Ps3, surly that is not right?

I have not tried to play another video on the phone when the Ps3 is playing the first one. I will try that either later or tomorrow. But still strange that I can stop my Ps3 playing netflix with my phone.

It's a feature, I don't really see the what the issue is.

What a stupid feature. why would anyone want to control netflix on one device with another device? Maybe it looks cool, oh i can pause netflix with my phone. Oh dear.

Removed the app now anyway, I did not really need it

Probably a lot easier to search using a phone's keyboard? YouTube do the same thing you can link your phone to the app on the PS3 or TV. Very useful and much easier to search than using the remote.

I agree much easier to search , personally can't see the OP's issue its not like anyone's forcing you to use it , and doesn't a persons phone have to be connected to the same network as your Netflix (PS3) so its not like anyone coming your house can control it unless of course they have your WiFi password , the Netflix app with your account credentials.

I'm also not too sure what the problem is here.
When you select to play something on the Android app it asks you which device you wish to play on.
Perhaps the OP should check out the Netflix 2nd Screen support page https://support.netflix.com/en/node/2331

Well, the problem could be that someone is using a android device in a different room, using netflix and can control Netflix on the Ps3. I don't have a problem with the idea, but I think there should be a way to disable it and reading all the bits and bobs about it, there is no way to disable that feature.

I find it easier to search on the Ps3 to be honest than looking at a small screen.

Netflix needs to put a disable option in, on the Ps3 app.

Don't they have to be logged into your account to control it?

That is true, but its unlikely the same household will have seperate Netflix accounts.
Even then it shouldn't be an issue anyway as you can now add upto 5 separate profiles to each account, so unless they're using he same profile they would have no control over the PS3.

I know mate, but others here seem confused

The profile idea is great, my young grandchildren now have the GC profile for all the kiddies programmes

I forgot about the profiles to be honest, but they are not passworded, so it is still possible for someone in the same household to control the PS3.

I don't think this was thought out to be honest.

i am not saying it is a bad idea, some people may want their phone to control their Netflix on another device, but there should be a way to disable the function.
I did not even know about the function until I notice on my phone a display saying what I am watching.

How is this any different from YouTube or the Sky+ app both of which can be used as second screen devices , if you don't trust others in your house maybe they shouldn't have the app on their phone , my young daughter has it on her tablet and grasped it's uses pretty easy , she's never once interrupted our viewing by using it.

I never said it was any different, i never knew you could do it on you tube and sine I don't have sky, i did not know you could do it on there either.

No one in the house apart from me. I never said it was difficult to use either. I just don't like the idea.
