The applewood smoked back bacon is very nice.
I never seen that one, maybe look for it in future. Have found Morrisons top range bacon to be very nice. Thanks

Tortilla wraps are £0.79 for 8 in Aldi and £2.00 for 8 in Tesco
Plus they're bigger in diameter.

Aldi are doing a copy of the Saucy Fish Company 2 pieces of fresh salmon with a sauce. We tried the salmon with chilli sauce last week and it was delicious, £2.99 instead of £4.50 for the Saucy Fish Company version.

Their stock control can be bad sometimes - we like their Benefit Cereal bars - £1.19 for 6 - but sometimes they have them and sometimes not. Last 2 weeks in "my" small Aldi there were none and don't know when they will be back. Went into another Aldi and they had loads of them so had to spend about £10 so we all have some over the next couple of weeks.
I do like their returns policy - within 28 days and not questions asked. Bought some light tubes which did not fit and he just gave us the money back, no questions or hassle.

My favourite sub £10 wine, Minarete (£5.49) has disappeared from my local Aldi. Is it available in bigger Aldis?

I bought some last week and used them last night to make soft tacos. They ARE massive, which is great because I was able to put lots of lettuce and tomato inside with the meat.

Went in tonight to get one of their knives on offer. £9.99 and it has a 30 year no-quibble guarantee. Nice design as well.

I bought the one at the top in this picture:

I got the booklet at home and was looking at one or two of those.

Their 'memento' branded half-coated in milk chocolate, fruit & nut cookies are nice. Perhaps on par, pricewise with other leading brand 'luxury' cookies, really more-ish though.

I used to get the Dominion brand wine gums, which I thought were identical to Sainsburys own brand wine gums. Then a few months ago they changed the packing, and from then on they haven't been quite so fruity in taste...has anybody else noticed this?

I don't know if you mean since November, but that's the last time I bought them and they were nice. Me and another poster mentioned them on page 4.

One of the reasons I've come to spend more in Aldi and less in Lidl over the last year is because Lidl changed a lot of products for the worse (whilst keeping the same brand name) or removed a lot of higher quality products that were also available in a cheaper version as part of a general streamlining of their product ranges.

I've noticed that some things seem to have either gone from Aldi too, or have gone from being regular products to things they just get one batch of every few months. Their fantastic stain remover being an example. Lidl's is very good, but they only do the normal one, not a 'whites' version like Aldi did.

Aldi products I like:

- They sell Brace's bread (Welsh company) for 99p a loaf, a good 15p cheaper than other supermarkets.
- Biscuits.
- Crumpets.
- Fresh fruit and veg.
- Their equivalent of Chicago Town mini pizzas are as good as the real thing.
- Their wine is probably the best of any supermarket if you don't want to spend a fortune.
- Most of their beers.
- Their version of Pringles.
- Biscuit chocolate.
- Potato waffles.
- Light bulbs.
- Cleaning products.
- Milk.
- Tinned tomatoes.
- Bin liners.
- Cheese.
- Yoghurts.
- Cooking oil.
- Toilet paper, kitchen foil.
- Bathroom pump soap.
- Washing up liquid.
- Tomato ketchup.

Aldi products I dislike:

- Their ice creams taste very sugary to me.
- Their attempts to replicate Cadbury's Dairy Milk isn't very good.
- I'm not keen on their desserts, again too sugary.

Sorry I missed that, I'm not saying that they are bad..had a bag yesterday...just different. I love the thick and creamy youghourts as well, especially the Strawberry ones and the twinpoy thingies with a vanilla youghourt in them.. The packs of 4 slices of corned beef are a steal as well...

Has anyone tried the Chardonnay wine box, is it drinkable?

Not that one. But why do you want a wine box? They are seldom good quality or value for money.

Milk is £1 for 4 pints 2.2 litres - also that price in Iceland and Lidl. But the plastic milk bottles in Lidl are flimsy and prone to damage.

I have never had a problem with their milk bottles.

There also seems to be a trend in convenience type stores to offer the 2 litre milk bottles, no doubt these look the same to people when they're not looking but they've got less milk in. Cheeky swines.

Do you know, I never noticed the size difference, but I suppose they have to make their profit somewhere being a small store. We had 2 bottles go 'off' last summer from our local corner shop so we stopped buying milk from them anyway. It was during a really warm weather spell so I suspect it wasn't transported or stored properly before we bought it.

Compare Lidl and Aldi milk bottles. I have damaged the Lidl ones but never close to damaging the Aldi ones.

Yes I spotted that Poundland and 99p Stores have the 2 litre a opposed to the 2.2 litre bottles. They look very similar.

The 4 pints (2.2 litre) container seems the best priced size of all. Much cheaper than the 2 pint or 6 pint size by volume.

2.2 ltr ?

Apart from the occasional 1 pint carton, I thought they had switched to litres 15+ years ago.
Maybe it varies by region and actual milk supplier?

Sorry to bump the thread, but I had some real Quavers today after having Curls for weeks and I have to say I wasn't impressed. Curls are much better than Quavers, I never thought I'd say that, I used to love Quavers.

I've also had the chicken thighs from Aldi (£1.99 a pack) and they have been delicious. And the frozen jalapeño burgers, yum.

Any supermarket that doesn't supply bags is not worthy of attention.

Sorry to bump the thread
The whole point of the thread is to have one place where everyone can pool their experiences of Aldi products, so we can all get a good idea of what to try and what to avoid!

After previous recommendations for the hot chocolate sachets, I went to buy them, but noticed they contain aspartame sweetener, which I avoid. Their jars of hot chocolate just contain sugar, but have half the amount of cocoa in them (10% rather than 20%) so I wasn't sure whether to bother buying it, but I'm glad I did. I've never tasted a water-based hot chocolate that tasted this nice. It's not as good as using real milk, but it's very tempting to drink this stuff instead of tea or coffee!

I also finally tried their strong white flour for bread making. I've bought Lidl's bread flour before and was very disappointed, and assumed Aldi would be the same, but it was fantastic. It's not quite as good as Allinson's extra strong flour, but it's 75p rather than £1.50 and is very close, so I'm definitely buying this from now on. I've bought their wholemeal flour but am yet to use it, but I'm hopeful it will be equally good. Aldi's flour is slightly yellow (like Allinson's) whereas Lidl's poorer flour is whiter and finer.

Aldi were doing boxes of Thornton's-style posh chocolates over Christmas, and I have to say they weren't very nice. They were being sold off dirt cheap after Christmas and still they couldn't sell them.
